Film and Music Licences

Whether your church wants to show films, play and/or record music, photocopy from authorised publications or download song lyrics and music, CCLI can provide a simple, legal and affordable solution to your copyright needs. The following are taken from CCLI website:

| |If you photocopy from any books, magazines or publications in your church then you may need a Music |

| |Reproduction Licence (MRL) or a Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) Church Licence. |

| |If you perform live music in your church or playing music from a sound recording then you may need a PRS |

| |for Music Church Licence and a PPL Church Licence. |

| |If you show films in church activities you are likely to need the Church Video Licence (CVL), PRS for |

| |Music Church Licence and the PPL Church Licence. |

| |If you record music from your church services, wedding ceremonies or live concerts, then you may need a |

| |Church Copyright Licence (CCL), Wedding Video-Recording Licence (WVRL) or a Limited Manufacture Licence. |

FILMS:

There are two licensing options available, depending on how you intend to use films in your church:

• Using film scenes to illustrate sermon points

• Showing entire films for entertainment or teaching

 

When showing films don’t forget:

There are currently over 7,500 churches in the UK that hold a Church Video Licence (CVL) and are therefore permitted to show films for a variety of teaching and entertainment purposes.
