Fitness and Health Work-Life Balance Programs Wellness Program LACCD offers webinars, workshops and trainings on healthy living, exercise, and more. Employees enjoy interactive wellness events throughout the year. Educational benefits include Tuition reimbursement for qualified expenses, educational leaves and fellowships. Retirement Benefits LACCD offers defined benefits pension programs with CalPERS and CalSTRS. Classified staff are offered either the classic plan which is PERS 2% at 55 or the 2% at 62 PEPRA plan. Teaching staff are offered CalSTRS DB Classic 2% at 60 or the PEPRA 2% at 62. In addition, LACCD offers employees the option of enrolling in the Tax Shelter Annity (TSA) plans. Transamerica offers whole life insurance with a long term care rider and paid-up insurance benefit. Employees can purchase for themselves and their family Transamerica life products with monthly payroll deductions. Employees can convert these benefits to an individual policy upon leaving the district. Pet Assure is a large veterinary discount plan. For $96.00 a year (prorated $9.60 per month over 10 months), LACCDs employees will save 25% on services that include medical office visits, shots, x-rays, surgical procedures and dental care. Pet assure is not insurance, so there are no denials of coverage, or forms to fill out for reimbursements as long as your vet is a Pet Assure contracted provider. Paid Time Off Holiday benefits include 15 1/2 designated days plus one personal floating holiday each calendar year. Vacation is generously accrued according to the employee’s classification and years of service. This calendar year maximum increases $500 for every 5 years of service up to $3,000. There is no annual deductible. There is a wide range of providers within the PPO network from which to choose. Employees have the benefit of choosing dentists outside of the Delta Dental network, but may have a higher out of pocket cost.MetLife/Safeguard is a HMO dental plan with no calendar year maximum. This plan has no annual deductible, and covered procedures have a predetermined copayment. Employees choose a primary care Dentist and are allowed to change Dentists within the MetLife/Safeguard Network by calling MetLife. Vision Coverage LACCD offers VSP to employees for vision coverage. In addition to regular glasses or contacts, many employees are eligible to get computer glasses. Life and Accident Insurance LACCD provides a $50,000 basic life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance (AD&D) through Cigna, with premiums paid by LACCD. Employees who have the Cigna life insurance enjoy savings on services such as health and wellness discounts, and will preparation and estate planning. Employees may purchase additional voluntary life and ADD insurance for themselves and voluntary life insurance for their family members. Employees may elect voluntary coverage within 60 days of hire and there is no underwriting required for amounts up to $120,000. Life insurance above $120,000 or requested after the initial hiring period—during open enrollment— is subject to Cigna underwriting. The cost of voluntary life is based on age of the employee and amount of coverage. The FSA allows you to save pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible healthcare expenses for you and your dependents or dependent care expenses that are necessary for you to go to work (e.g. day care for child or elderly parent) FSA enrollment is available to all employees during the annual open enrollment period. Health Spending Account (HRAs)A year-by-year negotiated benefit is the HRA. LACCD will contribute $1,500 annually toward health care expenses for each full-time employee who is enrolled in a LACCD Sponsored CalPERS medical plan and whose benefits start date begins on or before March 1st. HRA funds must be used before the Health Care FSA. Currently the HRA program is set to expire on December 31, 2016.Employee Assistance Program (EAP)LACCD contracts with Managed Health Network (MHN) to provide assistance to employees, their dependents, and all individuals living in their household. MHN provides confidential counseling services which includes 6 free counseling sessions per issue per calendar year.
