FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP The Foundation Scholarship will be given yearly to two PBL members who have shown dedication to PBL through outstanding service and leadership. The Georgia Phi Beta Lambda Foundation Board of Directors is responsible for the coordination of the scholarship. A committee established by the Foundation will review all applications and determine the two award recipients. Each local chapter that has contributed to the Foundation during the current year* is eligible to nominate one member. Funding for the scholarship comes from the Georgia Phi Beta Lambda Foundation, Inc. The Foundation Board sets the scholarship amount yearly. This amount will vary and is dependent upon the Foundation funds available for disbursement. The scholarship check will be sent directly to the recipient. Procedures for scholarship disbursement will be supplied to the recipient’s adviser. In the event that the scholarship recipient does not continue his or her education, the next-ranked individual will receive the scholarship. The college must have paid the $200 membership per chapter dues and chapter must have donated at least $200 to the PBL Foundation beginning at the time the State Conference ends through the end of the State Conference the following year. FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA In order to be eligible for scholarship consideration, the nominee must meet the following criteria: Must be a freshman, sophomore, or juniorMust be a full-time (12 hours) student at a collegeMust have a 3.0 or better grade point averageMust have completed one semester of membership in PBL.Previous nominees who were not selected to receive the scholarship may be nominated again. Nominees must submit: Completed application form (with keyed essay)Unofficial copy of technical/community/junior college, or university transcriptLetter of recommendation from local chapter adviser; adviser should include specific examples of the nominee’s service to PBL.NOTE: No other materials will be accepted. If other materials are submitted, the nominee will not be eligible for consideration. Selection will be based on the following scale: PBL Offices Held and Conferences Attended 5 percent PBL Business-Related Honors 5 percent Participation in Local Chapter Activities 40 percent Essay 35 percent Other Extra-Curricular Activities and Honors 10 percent Grade Point Average 5 percent * The student must be a member of a chapter that is in full compliance with Georgia Phi Beta Lambda Foundation, Inc.
