Jack on the Block The Jack in the Box Foundation Auctions Chance to Meet "Jack," Acquire TV Props in Fund-raiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America?

SAN DIEGO - He's not Tom Cruise or a Backstreet Boy, but Jack, the pointy-hat wearing CEO and spokesperson for Jack in the Box? restaurants, is a true-blue celebrity with millions of frenzied fans. And now Jack fanatics from all over the world will have a chance to bid on the opportunity to meet their elusive, fast-food idol face to ball.

On Saturday, Aug. 25, The Jack in the Box Foundation will launch an auction of Jack advertising memorabilia on the online auction site eBay, including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Jack on the set of an upcoming Jack in the Box commercial. All proceeds from the auction will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America? (BBBSA), the primary charitable partner of The Jack in the Box Foundation.

"Jack is an extremely busy corporate executive and family man who rarely makes public appearances," said Greg Joumas, division vice president of advertising at Jack in the Box. "But he's thrilled about this opportunity to meet with one of his many fans and help Big Brothers Big Sisters of America."

The additional eight lots slated for auction include framed photos and props from popular Jack in the Box commercials, such as a football jersey from the "Carnivores" ads that feature Jack's football team, the director's chairs used by "Mr. Box" and "Mr. Ball" in the ad "Interview," and the pointy, knit cap worn by a "99-cent" boy in the ad "99-cent Boyz."Jack in the Box memorabilia have become hot collectibles, with dozens of items peddled each day on eBay and other online auction sites.

"There's already a strong market on eBay for merchandise bearing Jack's likeness," said Joumas. "But unlike the antenna balls, Pez dispensers and bendable toys you see on the site every day, these auction items are generally one-of-a-kind collectibles not available anywhere else."

The Jack in the Box Foundation auction benefiting BBBSA will run through Tuesday, Sept. 4. For a full list of auction items, click here.
