Think about the themes we identified and the examples we found in the text. On the quiz, I will ask you to give me examples of one of the themes.

Chapter Questions

10. In Chapter 1, “Me” arrives at the Larson place. When everyone comes out to meet him, he is very shy and stays near the car. Why is “Me” so shy?

11. In Chapter 2, we learn that getting breakfast in the Larson house can be very difficult. Explain why the boys have so much trouble getting any food.

12. Near the end of Chapter 3, Harris and “Me” start doing work on the farm. The first thing Harris shows “Me” is how to work the separator. Explain how Harris tricks “Me” into doing all the work for him.

13. In Chapter 4, Harris and “Me” decide to play war with some of the pigs on the farm. On page 40, “Me” explains that they had made “a terrible mistake” having to do with “basic physics.” Explain what the problem was with their plan.

14. In Chapter 5, Harris is very excited because Knute is going to mow the field. Why is Harris so excited about this?
