Who am I? Poems

The purpose of this activity is to give each person a chance to identify oneself from their own introspective.

Write an 8-10 line poem in which the first line of each sentence begins with “I am”. Your poem can be about anything that YOU PERSONALLY IDENTIIFY WITH. (See example below).

Ex.

I am a daughter, an aunt, a sister, and a friend.

I am a teacher ready to motivate and educate.

I am a traveler by air, road, and sea.

I am Diet Dr. Pepper at least once a day.

I am a movie fanatic; Sandler, Smith, and Washington are my men.

I am German, Irish, and Catholic.

I am History in the making.

I am full of life and ready for more.

These poems are not to be read aloud. They are meant as a beginning of a conversation on what is identity, and how do individuals interpret the idea of identity. More importantly it gives the opportunity to develop ideas of what defines an individual.
