OCTOBER 15th (Thursday) "Framing the issues ? identifying our collective responsibilities."

What does it mean to be an Educated Person? As teachers, we strive to help our students find many kinds of meaning in what they study, and to help them become

life-long learners. A recent survey of our own students revealed significant (if sometimes disconcerting) links between the reasons they gave for coming to college and the ways in which they approached their studies. We look forward to discussing

these findings as well as the broader issues they raise.

DECEMBER 1st (Tuesday)

"Nurturing the Many Forms of Civic Responsibility and Engagement" In recent years, our students have been recognized for a number of significant accomplishments, including helping to wage a successful campaign to raise the

minimum wage and creating ground-breaking innovations in science and technology. How can we nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship and civic

engagement that make these kinds of feats possible?
