9/11: A Day to Remember

On September 11th, 2001, the United States of America fell under attack by a terrorist group call

Al Qeada. That day, both world trade centers and the pentagon were attacked. There was a third plane,

but, thanks to the dedication of the people on the plane to serve their country, we don’t know what the

third target was for sure. Thousands of lives were lost on that sad and tragic day and the country vowed

to “never forget.” Since the attack, the United States has gone to war with terrorism. In 2012, a group of

Navy SEALs, from SEAL Team Six, broke into the Al Qeada leader who planned the attack’s compound

and executed him.

Many groups have many different traditions they follow each year to remember 9/11 and to

honor the fallen heroes of that day and the many troops who were injured or killed by the terrorist since

that dreadful day. Some traditions are simple but meaningful while others are large.

Ever since 9/11, the MLB has played God Bless America in every game as a way to help the fans

remember. News channels like Fox News and CNN always talk about what happened, some channels

more than others though. The History and Military Channels go all day, and even sometimes several

days surrounding, talking about what happened from different perspectives and how the events on that

day, and ever since that day, have changed the United States and the country’s foreign relations.

Of the many traditions the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, started

In 2002 by the organization MyGoodDeed, is one of the more noticed events that happens in the United

States. The “Day of Service and Remembrance” is just like the title states, it’s a day thousands of

Americans gather in each state to give back to our communities, military personnel and there families,

and emergency teams like the police men and women, fire-fighters and EMS/EMT personnel. - United

We Serve

A lot of Americans do other things on 9/11 that they think is best for them given what they

have. Some people simply spend the day with their families, or call up people that they haven’t talked

to in awhile. Others call up there local fire and police departments and thank them for their service.

Others spend the day thanking Heavenly Father for what they have and they pray for the people lost,

their families and the survivors of the attacks.
