ASCP’s Guidelines for Submitting a Poster?PresentationPresenting a poster at an ASCP meeting is a noteworthy way to share your expertise in a specific area while contributing to the profession. Poster sessions provide authors time to display their work, informally discuss projects, and network with other attendees.Here are some essential instructions to help you prepare for your poster submission. Following these guidelines will make this experience more rewarding and enjoyable for you, as well as for attendees. Even if you have presented a poster at an ASCP meeting in the past, please read these instructions carefully as we are constantly updating our requirements.?Submitting an AbstractAbstracts will be considered in the following areas:Research and Reports:?Evaluative studies that report completed, original research on clinical drug studies, therapeutic issues, new services, or outcomes of services provided for the geriatric population.?Research-in-Progress:?Uncompleted, evaluated studies that are currently in progress, and are intended to be completed at the time of the 2020 ASCP Annual Meeting & Exhibition. Authors are required to have validated the study methods and describe preliminary results of research. Research-in-progress studies may address clinical drug studies, therapeutic issues, new roles or services, or outcomes of services provided for the geriatric population.?Descriptive Reports:?Descriptions of new, improved, or innovative activities or services that would be of interest to other practitioners. Descriptive reports do not need to include formal results, but they should summarize outcome(s) of the program or service. This may include reports from ASCP state chapters and affiliated organizations.Encore Presentations:?Evaluative studies that have been presented at other meetings but contain information of interest and importance to pharmacists working with the geriatric population. Encore presentations must be completed, original research on clinical drug studies, therapeutic issues, new roles or services, or outcomes of services provided.Suggested Topic Areas:Innovation, Program Improvement, and Quality AssuranceInnovations in business practices, organizational or patient-care. Changes or activities intended to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of care delivery, measuring and monitoring the quality of services, and quality improvement and patient safety methodologies. These could include information technology, workflow modification, process improvement, the use/development of quality assessment instruments, and collaborative disease management protocols.Person-Centered Research or Clinical ResearchResearch on implementing or evaluating patient-centered care models intended to improve care delivery, including the processes for making clinical decisions that are sensitive/responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values and demonstrate awareness of the science/evidence that supports various care options. Examples of this could include approaches to optimizing the use of antipsychotics, minimizing the risk of harm of anticoagulants, and incorporating the family and beneficiary in comprehensive medication reviews.Education and TrainingDeveloping and maintaining continuing competence, enhancing professional practice, and supporting professional development/achievement. This category includes creative and innovative teaching and assessment methods that improve learning, measure competency and promote practice change.Regulatory and Public AffairsThese should focus on regulatory measures, laws, policies, and funding concerning pharmacy and long-term care promulgated by the government or other regulatory agency. This category also includes the relationship between long-term care pharmacy and other stakeholders and the impact of regulations on business and practice. Examples include star ratings and the implications on pharmacists as well as medication management and safety in America’s assisted living facilities.Abstract should focus on readability, organization, and succinctnessContent should be in paragraph formTitle should emphasize focus of researchDo not include citations in the abstractWord count is limited to 300 words (focus on methods and results) and must include the following sections in sequence: Objective/Purpose, Methods, Results, and Implications/Conclusions (as applicable).Ask a coworker to review prior to submission as ASCP will NOT edit abstractsSubmitting OnlineAll abstracts must be submitted via the survey monkey link located on The Senior Care Pharmacist’s homepage. Complete all sections of the application.
