To update Harvester once you have already installed on a computer

Please note: before you download the update file using the Download Yellow Update Link.

Delete your old downloads of the harvester.exe from your download location to avoid your computer renaming the harvester.exe download file to harvester(1).exe etc.

Easy to update…

This is a single update file called harvester.exe and all you need to do is copy it from your download location or wherever you saved the file to from the harvester web page and then paste it into your harvester payroll SQL folder (ie My Computer, C drive, Program files, Harvester Payroll SQL System)

Click yes when you are told that the file already exists and you are asked if you want to replace the existing file. It will replace the old one.

You are done!!

Notes:

When you first run Harvester after you have copied and replaced the updated harvester.exe file over the old one, sometime you will see a message "Warning, publisher can’t be verified". Don't worry, I am the publisher and it won’t harm your machine! You can remove the tick box so that it does not keep warning you about the publisher.

If you have downloaded the harvester.exe file, before you copy and paste it over the old file, check that it is between 6 and 7 megs and that you can see a picture of the yellow sun as an icon in the file name. Then you know it was downloaded properly. If you can see the picture of the sun then 99 percent of the time its downloaded properly! If you only see a “square”, you know you need to download again.

If you can’t find the install location ie My Computer, C drive, Program files, Harvester Payroll SQL System then check under Program files (x86) for your Harvester folder as you may have a newer 64 bit machine!

Helpful tips for Windows 10 install

When you first install SQL 2008 you will still get a message saying windows 10 does not support this fully, but it does work if you follow these tips AFTER you have installed Harvester.

Point 1 and 2 are still the same as for Win7 and 8.

1) Run the harvester.exe as administrator

• Open My Computer and then Program Files (x86) and then Harvester Payroll SQL folder

• Right click the harvester yellow sun file and choose properties and then click on the Compatibility Tab and then tick the check box to "always run as administrator".

• Click Apply.

2) User Aaccount Control is off

• Make sure user account control slider is at bottom. i.e. no control.

User account control is found in Control Panel under users.

3) SQLEXPRESS set to Delayed Start

Step 3 is Not essential

• Press Control Alt Delete and click Task Manager, then click on the Services Tab.

• Look for SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) and right click this and click properties and then change the Startup Type from Automatic to Automatic (Delayed Start)

If this service is not running then Right click this service and click start.

Note:

Services can also be found in Administrative tools.

Click Start, then All Apps, then Administrative Tools and then in here look for Services.

4) Run Sqlservr.exe  service as Administrator

Step 4 is Not essential but needed if you can’t start Harvester

• While still in Task Manager from point 3 above, click on the Details Tab.

(Found next to the Services Tab)

• Look for the sqlservr.exe  service.

• Right click this and click properties.

• Click on the Compatibility tab and then tick the check box to "always run as administrator".

• Click Apply.

I trust this helps. Of course I can also do this for you via Teamviewer if you send me your ID and password.

Please click on my link below and use this TeamViewer link! NB it must be Teamviewer version 9 because this is what I have the commercial licence for. (If you have a later version then you can still have version 9 as well installed on your computer. It just takes a few minutes.)
