Dear VASD Families, The Verona Area School District is committed to providing opportunities for a summer experience that is filled with academic exploration, enrichment experiences, and curricular reinforcement for all students. The courses listed within have been proposed and designed to be as enriching as they are engaging. As you read through the 2019 summer offerings with your child, you will find a listing and course description of courses for grades K-12. When registering your student, please make sure you are selecting courses upon your child's CURRENT grade for the 2018-19 academic year. Please note that these courses are in addition to many of the same opportunities offered in years past, which will also continue this summer. Online registration will open on Wedn esday, Apr il 17t h at 5:00 pm and will end Friday, Apr il 26t h at 11:59 pm . A paper copy of the Summer School Registration form is also available at all school offices for those without computer access. Class requests submitted by paper registration will be added by VASD staff during the first day of registration.

Online web address for registration is located on the district web page. Please click on the link titled: For Fam ilies>Su m m er Act ivit ies>Su m m er Sch ool>Su m m er Sch ool 2019.

Summer School 2019 course fees are collected on the first day of class. All fees will be waived for students receiving free/reduced lunch during the year. If paying by check, please make the check payable to the Verona Area School District.

Payment in this manner is ONLY for summer school classes. Complete the separate registration and payment for any camps and Natatorium activities that may also be listed within this summer programming guide.

Online registration is the preferred and quickest way to register for summer school. The summer school link is located on the district website under For Fam ilies_Su m m er Act ivit ies>Su m m er Sch ool>Su m m er Sch ool 2019. Simply click on the link titled, "Summer School 2019" to register. Since some of our families do not have access to online registration, a paper copy is available.

Please use your child's current 2018-19 grade level when deciding on a class.

K-8 Su m m er Sch ool 2019

Glacier Edge will be the location for Elementary Summer School programming and Savan n a Oak s M iddle Sch ool will be the location for Middle School programming. Classes will range in size from 18 to 36 students, depending upon the number of instructors for each course.

Interested teachers have proposed courses that incorporate literacy, language, Math, problem solving and technology experiences in their offerings. These summer opportunities may also include time for drama, arts, hands-on investigations, and experiential learning. All courses will be offered by certified teachers at no cost to students, with the exception of a small materials fee for certain classes using significant materials. All fees will be waived for students receiving free/reduced lunch during the school year.

The 2019 Elementary/Middle Summer School session will run for 5 days/week for 3 weeks, from July 8th - July 26th, 2019 from 8:30-11:00 am.

All Elementary/Middle school students are to be dropped-off at the front entrance of Glacier Edge Elementary School or Savanna Oaks Middle School. Classes begin at 8:30 am; please do not drop your child off prior to 8:20 am. Classes end at 11:00 am. Please pick your child-up in the front of Glacier Edge Elementary School or Savanna Oaks Middle School at that time.

School buses will be made available for students needing transportation to school through Badger Bus Company. Families will need to inform the district at the time of registration if bus transportation is needed. Badger Bus Company will arrange routes along with pick-up and drop off points to efficiently transport our students with busing needs.

At t endance

Students attending Elementary/Middle School Summer School must be available to attend for all days of their chosen session. If your child is unable to do so due to other summer commitments, please do not register for the session. Your cooperation in this enables us to maintain full class-sizes and provide more opportunities to all VASD students. In the event of illness or a family emergency, please notify our office at (608) 845-4377.

High Sch ool Su m m er Sch ool

The Verona Area High School will be offering some summer school electives, each worth a .5 credit towards graduation. Space within these classes is limited to 30 students per course.

Session / Tim es There is only one session for VAHS for -credit cour ses, which r uns from July 8 t o August 2. Students meet Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Please contact course instructors for more information.
