Summer School 2019 Student Rules and Regulations

Welcome to summer school at The Bronx High School of Science. Your success in summer school depends upon you. To make this a successful summer, come every day, do your work and follow all rules.

1. Attendance. You are expected to be in every class EVERY day. Absences require a doctor's note upon your return. Absence from school WILL have a negative impact on your grade. Students who withdraw from summer school after the second day of summer school may receive failing grades. Attendance will be recorded online in PupilPath and will be accessible to parents and students.

2. Lateness. Lateness to either school or a particular class will be recorded and will have a negative impact on your grade.

3. Identification. You are expected to carry your program card as ID at all times. If you lose your program card, please fill out a lost program form available in the main office. You will be asked to show it when you enter the building. After the first day of school, you will enter the building through the main entrance.

4. Metrocards. Do not lose your Metrocard. You WILL NOT receive a replacement. Do NOT give your Metrocard to any other person. The Metrocard is issued to you only and may not be shared or given away.

5. Items not permitted according to Chancellor's regulations. No headgear of any kind is permitted in the school, except for religious observance. Students may not wear hats or doo-rags in the building. Cell phones, MP3 players and any electronic device are not permitted in classes. Students found with electronic devices (including smart watches) during exams will receive a zero for the assessment and may face further disciplinary action. All rules from the school year, which can be found in the student handbook on the Bronx Science website, are in force during summer school.

6. Breakfast and Lunch. Free breakfast and lunch are available every day and will be served in the big gym. The student gym will be open for breakfast from 8-9 and for lunch from 11 to 1:15. You must eat ONLY in the cafeteria. If you have a third period class, you may take lunch home with you. Breakfast and lunch cannot make you late for class.

7. Free Period. If you have a free period, you may go to the gym. You may not leave school grounds. 8. Inappropriate Behavior. Any student breaking school rules will be dismissed from summer school and

will face disciplinary action. 9. Summer School Grades: All art, music, drama and health grades received in summer school are high

school grades which will appear on your high school transcript and will be averaged into your high school average. Grades and attendance will be recorded online in PupilPath and will be accessible to parents and students.

I have received and read a copy of the Student Rules and Regulations and will abide by them. Please hand this signed form in to your first period teacher.
