This Bible Study has been designed to explain exactly what the Bible teaches concerning God's Plan of Salvation for Today. So, let's open our hearts as it "Proclaims the Truth"!

and of the .

Read this paragraph and explain what is meant by "God's Plan of Salvation", which is God's Plan for what we must do to be saved. Below are comments and statements to make:

______________________________________________

Point out that there are many definitions of what "born again" means. Jesus taught that being "born again" means being born of the water and spirit. The new birth therefore has two elements: water and spirit. "We'll see later in this study what born of water & spirit means."

______________________________________________

It's Jesus' prayer that you will hear the Apostles words. "Jesus wanted us to hear and believe what the Apostles taught.

_____________________________________________

"If Jesus personally taught you for 40 days, don't you think you would know what to teach?" The Apostles knew what to preach and teach.

______________________________________________

This is what happened to the Apostles first. Mary, the mother of Jesus, was also included in this number.

" PROCLAIM THE TRUTH " (2)

V. Acts 2: 36 - 39 (To the Jews)

A. (Verse 38) "Then Peter said unto them,

and ....

B. Be everyone of you in the Name of ....

C. And you shall receive the gift of the

".

Note: Compare this with what Jesus said in

John 3:5 (born of the water and of

the spirit).

VI. Acts 8: 12 - 18 (To the Samaritans)

A. (Verse 16) Were they baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ? YES or NO

B. (Verse 17) Did they receive the Holy Ghost?

YES or NO

C. In verse 18, Simon that through the laying on of the Apostles hands the Holy Ghost was given.

VII. Acts 10: 44 - 48 (To the Gentiles)

A. (Verse 45) The Jews that came with Peter were astonished because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the ______ .

B. (Verse 46) For they them speak with

, and magnify God.

C. In verse 48, Peter them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord.

There are 3 types of people in God's eyes. The first type is a person who is fully 100% Jewish and from the seed of Abraham. The second type is a person who is not Jewish at all, then the Bible calls them a Gentile. The third type is a person with one of their parents being Jewish and one being Gentile. This type of person was who the Samaritans were in the Bible. Here is what happened to the first type -the Jews.

"Now we see explained what Jesus meant when he spoke to Nicodemus." Born of Water & Spirit = baptized in Jesus name and receiving the Holy Ghost.

______________________________________________

Here the door of Salvation is being opened to the Samaritans. Note: It's the same message that was preached to the Jews in Acts 2.

The Samaritans were "born of the water and spirit".

It was quite possible that what Simon "saw" was the believers speaking in tongues.

____________________________________________

Here the door of Salvation is being opened to the Gentiles. Note: Again, it's going to be the same message that was preached to the Jews in Acts 2.

This is how the Jews knew that the Gentiles had just received the Holy Ghost. They "heard" them speak with tongues.

Baptism is not an option or a nice suggestion, it is a command! The plan of Salvation was given to all 3 types of people.

" PROCLAIM THE TRUTH " (3)

VIII. Acts 19: 1 - 6 (Do people need to be re- baptized in Jesus' Name?)

A. (Verse 3) These believers were baptized unto

baptism.

B. In verse 5, They were baptized again in the Name of the and ....

C. (Verse 6) The Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with .

IX. Acts 22: 16

A. There was a calling on the Name of the Lord when Paul was baptized.

B. It is important what is "called" over you when you are baptized!

CONCLUSION:

To be born again I must:

1) Repent

2) Be baptized in the

Name of Jesus Christ

3) Receive the Holy Ghost with the

initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

IMPORTANT QUESTION:

Have I truly been "born again"?

This is for those who have been baptized, but not in the name of Jesus. "If the Bible says we need to be re-baptized, then we do. If not, then we don't. Let's find out!"

Here we see a scriptural example of someone who was already baptized, being re-baptized in the name of Jesus!

These believers have now been "born of the water and spirit"!

______________________________________________

"Calling" is a verbal action or proclaiming over the person.

If what is called over you in baptism doesn't matter, then would you want to be baptized in the name of "Donald Duck? So you see, it is important what is said over you when being baptized!"

Review and make sure student understands the New Birth.

Look them straight in the eye and ask them this question. Wait for their response and let them speak first. When they answer “no”, then the Good News is that they can be! If they answer “yes”, and you know they are not, review CONCLUSION.
