WHAT'S HAPPENING AT COLLEGE PARK CHURCH

JEREMIAH 29:13

An unstable economic and political landscape. The nation's leadership seems increasingly corrupt and predatory. Multiculturalism leads people to blur the lines between religions and make syncretistic, self serving spiritual cocktails. The people of Yahweh feel more and more like an ostracized minority.

Sounds like something you might hear on Fox News or Christian radio, right?

But this is Israel in the days of the prophet Jeremiah. Pluralistic, economically uncertain, politically corrupt.

Jeremiah's words rarely find their way into Hallmark cards and Lifeway flower prints (and even then, usually out of context). In fact, he's been nicknamed the "weeping prophet" throughout Church history.

Jeremiah may seem like a strange topic of study for modern Americans, on the face of it. But Dr. D.A. Carson thinks Jeremiah's situation resonates with the present day West's, and that God's words through him can speak powerfully to the 21st century.

During THINK |15, Dr. Carson will take us through some of Jeremiah's key messages. Under the banner "The Weeping Prophet: Jeremiah Confronts the 21st Century," we'll hear about Jeremiah's calling, the problems we share with sixthcentury Israel, and the hints of redemption and new creation that we see in Jeremiah's book.

kidTHINK |15 will take place on both Friday and Saturday this year. Children, kindergarten through grade 6, of THINK |15 attendees are invited to sign up for the weekend event as they will learn about the prophet Jeremiah, worship, and play games together.

Child care (ages 4 months through PreK) will also be offered for children of THINK |15 attendees. Space is limited for both child care and kidTHINK |15, so children must be registered in advance. There is a nominal $5 charge for children in child care.

Join us on Feb. 27- Mar. 1 for this enlightening and edifying event! Registration for both THINK |15, kidTHINK |15, and to volunteer will be open Jan. 7.

Planning on coming to THINK|15? Could you give some of your time and volunteer? The THINK weekend is only possible with the many hands and feet of volunteers who help put it on each year. Would you consider giving some of your time and volunteer for a shift at the bookstore, providing coffee and snacks, or cleanup? Sign up to volunteer when you register for THINK. Questions? This spring at College Park Church will be a historic one as we launch the community for our rst multisite campus in Fishers. As an over ow of our Next Door Mission to reach the unchurched in our city, we will start multisite campuses in the Indy metro area with the longterm vision of launching a family of healthy churches.

The northeast suburbs of Indianapolis (Fishers & Noblesville) are one of the fastest growing areas in the midwest. In fact, Fishers is on pace to become Indiana's second largest city in the next 20 years. There is a need for more gospel centered churches in this area, and College Park is well positioned with people, health, and resources to start a new local gathering that we pray will reach the unchurched in that area.

On February 8, the Fishers campus group will have its rst meeting as an campus "incubator" at 9:45 a.m. in the Ministry Center. The vision for this gathering is to start worship services, build community, and plan for a tentative June soft launch at a school in Fishers. Parents, you can continue to utilize the nursery, preschool and elementary Next Generations ministry at the main campus. There will be a dedicated drop-o zone outside doors 7 and 8 and special check-in stations for you to drop o your children and drive to the Ministry Center.

IF YOU LIVE ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF INDIANAPOLIS, WOULD YOU PRAYERFULLY CONSIDER JOINING THE FISHERS CAMPUS AND COMING TO THE INCUBATOR ON FEBRUARY 8?

We need many people to join the campus, be trained, and serve. Ready to join? Contact Dale Shaw (dshaw@) or Dustin Crowe (dcrowe@) with questions.

CAMPUS LEADERSHIP UPDATE

The Elders are pleased to announce that Chris Beals has been hired in the role of Campus Pastoral Resident and will start January 19.

Chris will spend several months working closely with Mark Vroegop and Dale Shaw (Campus Launch Pastor) and will join the Fishers campus startup team to prepare the Fishers campus for launching in 2015.

Chris is married to Lindsay, and they have a oneyear old daugther Ellie. Chris and his family are from Dayton, Ohio, where Chris formerly served as Pastor to the Next Generations at Far Hills Community Church. Chris earned his M.Div. from Southern Seminary and also has served in roles at Parkside Church in Cleveland.
