Hi:

The 7th Edition of the APA Publication ManualHere is a summary of the changes from the sixth edition.Fonts: 2.19. Arial 11 and Times New Roman 12 are now the recommended fonts.Headers: 2.27. These have changed. See my APA-Style Headings page.Anthropomorphism: 4.11. There is an increased emphasis on avoiding anthropomorphism. For example, do not write “The theory concludes that …..,” but it is OK to write “The theory addresses …..”Singular They: 4.18. Use of the singular “they” is now encouraged.“Females” and “Males”: 5.3. Do not use as nouns when referring to humans. Write “women,” or “men,” or “girls,” or “boys.” Exception – OK to use when referring to a group that ranges widely in age (such as boys and men).Spacing after Punctuation Marks: 6.1. APA has gone over to the dark side. They no longer want two blank spaces between sentences, now just one.Citations in Text: 8.17. If there are two authors, cite both names. If there are three or more, use “et al.,” unless that would create ambiguity. For example, “Wuensch, James, Wundt, & Fechner, 2019” and “Wuensch, Münsterberg, Capretta, & Spence, 2019” would both reduce to “Wuensch et al., 2019.” To avoid such ambiguity, you would write Wuensch, James, et al., 2019” and “Wuensch, Münsterberg, et al., 2019). If only the last author differs, do not use “et al,” do list all authors’ names. For example, “Wuensch, Münsterberg, Capretta, & Cattell, 2019” would not be reduced to “Wuensch, Münsterberg, Capretta, et al., 2019,” because “et al.” means “and others,” not “and one other.”Reference ListAuthor Names: 9.8. Provide surnames and initials for up to and including 20 authors. If over 20 authors, include the first 19, then an ellipsis, no ampersand, then the last author.Issue Numbers: 9.25. If the journal has issue numbers, provide them, even if the journal is paginated by volume rather than issue. I welcome this change -- having the issue number makes it a lot easier to locate an article in a database. Example: Weaver, B., & Wuensch, K. L. (2013). SPSS and SAS programs for comparing Pearson correlations and OLS regression coefficients.?Behavior Research Methods, 45(3), 880-895. 10.3758/s13428-012-0289-7Books: 9.29. Do not include the city of publication, just the name of the publisher.Digital Object Identifiers: 9.35. Start them with “”Return to Wuensch’s APA Style pageChanges Introduced in the Sixth Edition ................
