PM-961 - Teach Us To Love One Another

A History Sam Butcher drew the first of the Precious Moments children for his family. Sam was a devout Christian, which shows in his work on these pieces. In the early part of the 1970s, Sam and Bill Biel started to produce his drawings in the form of cards and posters. This company was called Jonathan & David. Most of their goods were sold at the Christian Boooksellers Association Convention in California. There, the artwork was a huge hit, and Sam was soon approached by the Enesco Corporation. Much like Sister Hummel was approached by Goebel, Enesco wanted to develop figurines based in his artwork. In 1978, the first 21 Precious Moments were produced. The success of these figurines was immediate. People loved to collect these adorable teardropshaped children. Enesco held the license for these figurines until 2005, when they returned to Precious Moments, Incorporated.

How to use this guide:

Our price guide is in alphabetical order. There are over 1100 entries and each entry lists its symbol, indicating year. We have a `sale' column and an `insurance' column. If you are looking to estimate the value if you were to sell it right away, use the sale price, but if you are looking for what to insure your collection for, please use the insurance column. You can also use the median if you are trying to determine the estimate of value if you were going to sell each one slowly over time. Essentially, every piece has a range.
