-- 2019 FRESHMAN MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

Choosing a major can be difficult, especially with 140-plus options, but understanding scholarship opportunities shouldn't be. Temple's mission is to provide an excellent, affordable education to motivated students regardless of their backgrounds or means--that's why all freshmen are automatically considered for merit scholarships, no separate application required.

Merit scholarships range from $2,000 to full tuition. The value and volume of merit scholarships we can offer is determined by the availability of funding, as well as the size, quality and characteristics of the entire applicant pool. Students awarded our full-tuition merit scholarship--the President's Scholar Award--may also apply for one summer educational stipend of $4,000 to be used for a variety of academic experiences, such as approved study away, research opportunities or internships.

WHO'S CONSIDERED?

? Any freshman applicant* who has completed their application by Feb. 1, 2019, including international students, is eligible.

? Freshman applicants who apply late are considered only if funds are still available.

*For scholarship purposes, a freshman applicant is a current high school student who will graduate prior to the start of the fall 2019 semester and will not earn any college credits after their high school graduation.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

? By March 1, 2019, you'll get a scholarship notification letter via TUportal containing all details.

? Submit your tuition deposit by May 1, 2019, to secure your scholarship.

? Merit scholarships are limited to eight consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment.

? For the first four consecutive semesters, merit scholarships are guaranteed, then a minimum GPA must be achieved and maintained to renew annually.
