Got Brand

Got Brand? Tips

• Use our pre-approved presentation slides

Customized backgrounds for Power Point presentations are available on the network at F:/HOME/PlayhouseSquare Presentation Slides.

• The use of “Foundation” in our corporate name

If our name is “PlayhouseSquare,” why do we still see the phrase “PlayhouseSquare Foundation” on postcards and self-mailing brochures?

Our legal name is PlayhouseSquare Foundation and that is how we are recognized by the United States Postal Service. Because we are a certified 503(c) non profit organization, we are entitled to a reduced postage rate on bulk mailings, which are sent typically third class. Brochures and postcards that are sent in bulk (high quantities normally used by marketing), must have our official, legal name in the return address in order to get this rate. So, from time to time, you’ll see Foundation pop up, but only in that regard.

• The PlayhouseSquare “burgundy”

Our “PMS” (Pantone Matching System) logo color is #208. (Black is the second color, but does not have a PMS code, as both black and white are not really considered colors). Should you ever be creating an item which requires you to compare the item against our official logo color, feel free to visit anyone in the marketing department. Each has their one Pantone chip #208 you can use to set next to your item to see how close you may be.

• Creating our custom color in Word

When in Word, go to the Font Color icon located on your ruler

Click on "More Colors"

Click on the "Custom" tab

Change the red color to 116

Click "OK"

The new color will be added to your palette. You may need to click back onto black to make it your default color.

• The proper way to list our contact information

Phone numbers should be separated with dashes, not periods (216-640-8650, not 216.640.8650). Why? This style coincides with our business cards and stationary.

Our web address should always in complete lower case (, not ) Why? The url should always be different and separate from the corporate name so that is it easy for people to identify quickly.

• PlayhouseSquare letterhead and a fax cover sheet are available electronically

With the letterhead, you can print out a letter on one of our color printers directly from your computer. This saves you the step of printing out your document on plain paper, then trying to copy it onto letterhead while at the copy machine.

The fax cover sheet can either be printed, then filled out later or you can type directly onto the sheet while on your screen.

Simply go to: F/Home/PlayhouseSquare Templates

• PlayhouseSquare font

Our font is one from a style family called "Trade Gothic.

If your job requires you to work with a graphic designer or printer, if you create any kind of communication, this is what you need to know:  Our brand identity requires us to be consistent in the fonts we use. This creates a professional, unified look for the organization. Please use these fonts exclusively.

Trade Gothic Standard is the font style that should be used for body copy and text (in a letter or flyer, for example).

Trade Gothic Condensed is the font style that should be used for headlines.

Trade Gothic Extended is the front style for accents (things like page numbers).

For more details, the Brand Guide lists the different fonts and how to properly use them.

If your job requires you to send correspondence, create reports, presentations, and other written documents, please note: Though our official font is Trade Gothic, the preferred font for business writing is Arial. It is fine if you want to use Trade Gothic, but you may discover that it does not translate well into pieces that are more formal in nature. Please also be aware that with email, you may use the Trade Gothic font if you wish, but keep in mind that if the receiver does not have it installed on their computer, their screen will interpret your email as using a Times Roman or other standard font.

To set Trade Gothic as your default (what is used every time you type a new document or email), follow these instructions:

Open a new Word document and click on the Format tab

Click on Font

Scroll down to Trade Gothic LT Standard (preferred)

Click on Default

Click Yes
