BiographyJack Prelutsky was born on September 8, 1940 in Brooklyn New York. When he was still an infant his house burned down which could’ve cost his life however his Uncle Charlie saved him. He was a very poor child while growing up. However he still attended school and got an education. He made it through elementary school however hated the experience and poetry. That’s until later on when he rediscovered poetry in Hunter College and turned towards it. He also discovered that he had a really nice singing voice at Hunter College. He didn’t know what to use for until one day he met Bob Dylan at a coffee shop and Bob Dylan also said that he had a good voice which inspired Jack to sing some of his poems like the well-known poem “Be glad your nose is on your face.” This poem is about how your nose weren’t on your face and how awful it feels if it was at another place such as atop your head or in between your toes. This poem was also his very first poem. He written this poem when he drew a picture and he wanted something to go with the picture so he wrote a poem and his friends thought that it was really good and that he should start writing poems. This poem is well-known because of its wacky and intense words. Another well-known poem that is by Jack Prelutsky is called “A wolf at the Laundromat” this poem is about a wolf at the Laundromat washing his clothes innocently and doing no harm to anything. This poem is also well-known for its wacky and intense wording. Jack Prelutsky does poems for children. Some of his themes that he writes are weird and mysterious. This is the well-known poet Jack Prelutsky.IntroductionThe poet in this book you are about to read about is the well-known poet Jack Prelutsky. The reason why I chose to write about this poet is because his poems are weird and are funny it also gets you thinking in new ways. Also, not only does this poet know how to write poems he could also sing and play music pretty well. He also sings his own poems and present them to schools and libraries. The reason why I think his poems are worth reading is because they are funny and awkward and I think other people will like it because of this. Another reason why I think his poems are worth reading is because after when I read some of his poems it gets me thinking about something in a different way. For example the poem “Be glad your nose is on your face” got me to think that your nose is so much more important than any other thing. What I have learned from my poet is that if you fail at something that you are not good at there might be some other thing that you are better at. I learned this because when Jack Prelutsky went to college he wasn’t good at ELA. However he turned out to be good at Music. This is what I learned from Jack Prelutsky. Another thing that I learned from Jack Prelutsky is that if you fail at something do not give up or you’ll never get good at it. I learned this because when Jack Prelutsky was in elementary school and college he didn’t do well in ELA. However he became a poet, which means that you are supposed to have a good understanding of words and grammar, but he wasn’t good at it so he must have taken more ELA classes or lessons to get good at it. This is the poet Jack Prelutsky.Analysis“Be glad your nose is on your face”2819400796290In the poem “Be Glad Your Nose Is On Your Face” by Jack Prelusky, the narrator talks about how if you get something you shouldn’t be upset with the phrases “ Be glad your nose is on your face” and for if it were where it is not you might dislike it a lot.I think the narrator is trying to say that if you get something you shouldn’t be upset with it or else you’ll really not like it. Therefore you get what you get and don’t be upset. The poet Jack Prelutsky makes me think this by using descriptive imagery like “Imagine if your precious nose were sandwiched in between your toes.” This is why how Jack Prelusley makes me think this. 00In the poem “Be Glad Your Nose Is On Your Face” by Jack Prelusky, the narrator talks about how if you get something you shouldn’t be upset with the phrases “ Be glad your nose is on your face” and for if it were where it is not you might dislike it a lot.I think the narrator is trying to say that if you get something you shouldn’t be upset with it or else you’ll really not like it. Be glad your nose is on your face, not pasted on some other place, for if it were where it is not,you might dislike your nose a lot.Imagine if your precious nosewere sandwiched in between your toes, that clearly would not be a treat, for you'd be forced to smell your feet.Your nose would be a source of dreadwere it attached atop your head,it soon would drive you to despair, forever tickled by your hair.Within your ear, your nose would bean absolute catastrophe, for when you were obliged to sneeze, your brain would rattle from the breeze.Your nose, instead, through thick and thin, remains between your eyes and chin, not pasted on some other place--be glad your nose is on your face!Analysis“A Wolf Is at the Laundromat”A wolf is at the Laundromat,it's not a wary stare-wolf,it's short and fat, it tips its hat, unlike a scary glare-wolf.It combs its hair, it clips its toes,it is a fairly rare wolf, that's only there to clean its clothes—it is a wash-and-wear-wolf.523875186690In “A Wolf Is at a Laundromat” by Jack Prelutsky, the narrator talks about things that look scary are not really scary at all, with the phrases “it is not wary stare-wolf” and “unlike a scary glare-wolf.”I think the narrator is trying to tell the readers that not to judge someone or thing by its looks. The narrator does this by using personification “it combs its hair and clips its toes” and “that’s only there to clean clothes” to make the wolf, usually a scary creature, to look less scary because it acts more human. That is how the narrator of this poem makes me think this.00In “A Wolf Is at a Laundromat” by Jack Prelutsky, the narrator talks about things that look scary are not really scary at all, with the phrases “it is not wary stare-wolf” and “unlike a scary glare-wolf.”I think the narrator is trying to tell the readers that not to judge someone or thing by its looks. The narrator does this by using personification “it combs its hair and clips its toes” and “that’s only there to clean clothes” to make the wolf, usually a scary creature, to look less scary because it acts more human. Good night!"And then, for reasons no one knows,Fred's underwear goes on his toes.933450269875In “As soon as Fred gets out of bed” by Jack Prelutsky.
