Dell Data Protection | Endpoint Recovery TMApril 21, 2016Changes for 1.1.1.0Warning: in some versions of Windows 10 tablet mode the Detail windows, Search windows, and About Box come up behind the application. The only way to make them visible is by maximizing them manually or switching out of tablet mode. We assume Microsoft will repair this.New FunctionalityAdd Wake Up from sleep option. There is a new option in the Settings Advanced page, Wake Up. If checked on, Endpoint Recovery will wake up a sleeping computer to run backups. If not checked, then any backups slated to run while the PC is sleeping will run when it first wakes up. Completed Job Search page. There is now a search page for completed jobs. Click the blue magnifier picture on the Dashboard completed jobs section. This has better filtering and a much larger display.Recent Events Search page. There is now a search page for recent events (user actions). Click the blue magnifier picture on the Dashboard recent events section. This has better filtering and a much larger display.Add GUI setting to set time between sweeps. There is a new option on the System Advanced page: CDP Backup Sweep Interval that lets you set how long between backup runs for CDP (continuous data protection) folder. The default is 6 hours. Finish backup/restore program settings. Backup and Restore program settings now correctly require a password and correctly work. Restoring can be dangerous because it restores everything: users, password, repository settings, etc. Fully implement protection levels. The four destination protection levels are now correctly and fully implemented.Show running job in Notifier icon. Now, when a backup job is running the Endpoint Notifier icon turns green.Add alerts for disconnect of database service. The Endpoint Recovery Notifier (the system tray application) now pops up an alert message when there is a new version available so you don’t have to run the user interface to check.RepairsUpdate restore job. Restore now has an alert when it fails and it more accurately reports restore failures.Status icon isn’t showing in Notifier in Win 10. This has been repaired.Header on Notifier says free until reboot. Repaired. The notifier did not pick up a license until reboot.Offline text improvement. When you mouse over a destination that is offline, the text describing why the destination is offline has been improved.Trim space chars in policy name. Fixed.Fix invalid license error message. In some cases invalid licenses were not correctly messaged. Fixed.Switch to vs2015. The program is now being built with the latest visual studio.Improve data validation in case of disk corruption. Improvements were made to detecting disk corruption when resynching destinations and when writing to them.Change key file name to KeyFile.xml. The key file that lives in the root of a destination has been upgraded to better support protection levels. The name has been fixed to KeyFile.xml instead of being named after the destination.Limit the service in case of Freemium. The free version of Endpoint Recovery now contains limitations within the service to reflect user limitations.Repair clipped Win 10 notification messages. The Windows 10 built-in notification method has less screen space than our system tray notifier so we had to shorten a number of messages.Add global exception trap for requests and jobs. There were still a few minor places where the Endpoint Recovery service would crash. We now have an exception trap so this should not happen.Change database wait algorithm to wait at startup. There were cases where the service would start even though the database had not yet finished preparation. That should be now repaired with an up-to-2-minutes wait for the database.Repair leap day installation bug. There was an issue installing on leap day.Repair too large number in Max log size field. It was possible to type a really large number into the Maximum log size field. Repaired.Add right-mouse menu to dashboard event grid. The user interface dialogs will now display warnings sent back by the service, not just errors.Repair backup failures when using CDP to backup MSOffice folder. Due to the way MSOffice does a write, backup folder monitoring always produced failed backup during continuous backup monitoring. This was only visual (the backup worked fine) but has been repaired.Put localization file loading into a thread. To speed up service start, any upgrades to the localization database are done asynchronously.Repair installation key storage in the registry. During upgrades the key stored in the registry (used only for display) might get corrupted. Repaired.Make CIFS connection before deleting destination. Deleting a destination on a share could fail if the share had not been accessed previously.Improve logging during resynch. Resynch now logs errors and warnings better.Keep icon sizes fixed during grid resize. It was possible to resize a column with icons (such as Completed jobs) and have the icons grow/shrink.
