Welcome

Welcome to the Metasys? Server Lite Installation and Upgrade Instructions. The document guides you through the steps you need to follow to install or upgrade the Metasys Server Lite software. The instructions apply to both the Metasys Server Lite Europe and the Metasys Server Lite Asia products. The Metasys Server Lite products are also referred to as the Application and Data Server (ADS) Lite.

To use the Help System zip file, download the zip file. Unzip the contents and run the launch.html file from a browser.

Summary of Changes

The following information is new or revised:

? Updated the version numbers in Prerequisite Software Checklist for Installation and Upgrade for the Metasys products installed.

? Removed support for Microsoft? Windows? 7 as a Metasys Server Lite operating system. Also, updated the service pack numbers for supported products in Prerequisite Software Checklist for Installation and Upgrade and Recommended OS and SQL Server Combinations.

Getting Started

The Metasys Server Lite setup is a comprehensive utility that installs many of the components required by the Metasys system. The following tables list the components installed by the Metasys Server Lite installer. For the software listed under the Components and Products NOT Installed column, use the respective installation programs to add those components and applications.

Note: The Metasys Server Lite setup attempts to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 component. If the computer that you are installing the Metasys Server on does not have access to Windows updates, the installation of this component fails. If installation of this component fails, install it manually.

A required component for RabbitMQ functionality.

RabbitMQ Server 3.8.16

RabbitMQ is a service bus used to send notification messages to other services and is used for inter-process communication (messages) on the server.

Set Rate Limits

IIS module that applies rate limiting to Metasys API calls. This module and settings do not apply to SMP or MUI.

GraphDB

GraphDB is an enterprise ready Semantic Graph Database

Licensing

The Metasys Server Lite requires a software license for its base product. An application called Software Manager, installed with Metasys Server Lite software, manages Metasys software licenses on a machine. We recommend that you license Metasys Server Lite software immediately after installation. Also installed with the Metasys Server Lite is the Monitoring and Commanding API, which you also need to license. Metasys UI, however, does not require a separate license. For information about activating licenses, refer to the Starting a license activation section in the Software Manager Help (LIT-12012389).

Note: SMP requires a license at Release 12.0, except for an ADX with MVE installed and licensed.

Prerequisite Software Checklist for Installation and Upgrade

Before you begin with the Metasys Server Lite installation or upgrade, review the following table to verify that you have the required software. The table also indicates where you can obtain each software component.

If you use a computer that was upgraded from a previous version of Windows, files and registry settings left behind after the upgrade may adversely affect the installation of Metasys system software.

Understand steps for installing Metasys software on a virtual machine (VM)

If you are upgrading from a hardware ADS-Lite server to a virtual ADS-Lite server, ensure the virtual server is running in static memory mode, not dynamic. Otherwise, operational issues with SQL Server may occur. Also, configure the ADS-Lite VM with the same amount of memory as the hardware ADS-Lite server, or with 8GB to 16GB for ADS-Lite on Windows OS VMs.
