A big day for Kate & William

But let's not forget your big day this year and make that as special as the royal couple will experience!

With over an estimated two billion worldwide audience set to watch the Royal Wedding live, all eyes will be focused on The Bride's Dress. Kate Middleton is now wearing Princess Diana's engagement ring, now rumours are flying that she's chosen the late Princess of Wales favourite British fashion designer - 60 year old Bruce Oldfield to design her Wedding gown. Details of Kate's dress will be kept a strict secret and no-one will know for sure until she steps out of the Rolls-Royce in front of Westminster Abbey on April 29th - How Exciting!

Since the engagement announcement here at Satin and Lace we have experienced a definite increase in enquiries and indeed sales for this period in previous years. There are no favourite styles in general, this year everything goes from slinky to fairy-tale, silk, taffeta and lace. We try to offer our Brides a vast choice and endeavour to offer samples in as many sizes as possible.

It is not unusual to order a dress for a Wedding date two years or more in advance to ensure the Bride has her perfect choice - the dress that ticks all the boxes - the dress she doesn't want to take off - "The dress of her Dreams". A number of styles are discontinued throughout the season to make way for new designs so we can never guarantee the selected dress will be available in the future. When a Bride falls in love with a certain dress we always advise to order as soon as possible while still available. Most new dresses require a lead time of between 3-5 months to order dependent on the designer. However we have supplied Brides with dresses in under a week - to include any alterations. We offer an extensive sale rail, these dresses are all new dresses that have simply been discontinued and are only available as one offs in that specific size. These are usually at greatly reduced price

(approximately. 30-50% of the retail price) offering great value. Our sample dresses are also available for sale and on some occasions our suppliers can offer stock delivery so there are a number of possibilities for late decisions.

Satin and Lace are proud to have 3 long experienced seamstresses boasting over 80 years experience in the Wedding industry between them. Our ladies always come to see our Brides in our shop, using one of the three private changing rooms and private viewing areas offering a total personal service. Unlike many Bridal shops we offer our services to Brides and members of their party who have purchased their attire elsewhere.

With over twenty-five years trading in Bartholomew Street I wonder if we will be having a party on the 29th?

We are also able to try and answer any questions you may have on the services we offer or introduce you to our highly recommended suppliers -all on-line. With the beautiful 2011 collections of Maggie Sottero, Sottero Midgley and Alfred Angelo Wedding gowns now released you can link to their sites and view 100s of the most gorgeous gowns on the market. Also the 4 complete new collections of Rainbow shoes, head dresses and tiaras can be viewed giving you a truly in-depth view on current fashions and availability. As our designers are constantly adding new designs to their collections we often add discontinued styles to our sales stock. These can represent wonderful value and can save regularly between 30-50% of the retail price or more. We up-date our sales pages regularly with all our sales stock - so watch this space! We now have a News and Events section where we list all Wedding Fairs we attend, fashion shows we produce and promotional weekends we plan to stage at our shop.
