1. What development issues have you followed in the last month? I have vaguely followed the situation in Syria, and the so-called migrant crisis.2. What has been the most memorable message or story you have read/ heard/ saw? Macedonia closing its border. Why was it memorable? Because of the tragic situation these people are in.What made it affective? The tragedy of it.Did it prompt you to do anything? Only to carry on donating to relevant charities.3. Thinking about a situation where you changed your mind on a big social issue, (e.g. climate change, same sex marriage, Britain’s membership in Europe, the death penalty, etc.), what influenced you the most to change your mind/ attitude on the issue? I can’t think of an issue that I have changed my mind on, but I have started to waiver on British membership of Europe. Was it the views of, or conversation with, another person? Conversation with a friend. Was it a life changing event? (Birth or death, victim of a crime, etc.) No.Was it something you experienced? (travel, relationship, etc) No.Was it new information you learned or acquired? Yes.Or some combination of these? 4. Please imagine that you were to change your mind/attitude towards overseas aid and development… (i.e. become more supportive or less supportive of overseas aid and development in general) – What would it take for you personally to change your mind/attitude? Personal experience. I would need to meet and discuss the subject with one or more people who work in the area of overseas aid and development, and perhaps visit recipients. How do you think this would change your thoughts or actions day-to-day? It would depend on what they told me. 5. Have you changed your mind/attitude towards overseas aid and development in the past? What influenced you most to change your mind on this issue?I’m not sure if it was exactly a change of mind, but I became aware of what different forms aid can take eg arms which made me realise that the total amount spent is not the issue as much as how it is spent. Was it the views of, or conversation with, another person? No. I read books about it.Was it a life changing event? (Birth or death, victim of a crime, etc.) No.Was it something you experienced? (travel, relationship, etc) No.Was it new information you learned or acquired? YesOr some combination of these? 6. Who is the one person that you most associate with global poverty and why? Unfortunately, it is probably Bob Geldof as he has been outspoken on the subject. In general I associate countries, regimes, institutions, charities etc with global poverty, rather than any individual people. ................
