ENTRY RULES AND REGULATIONS
1) Borgonovo Valtidone town council, the cultural association “Cortonovo” with
Valtidone association co-ordinators “CORTONOVO 2014” - Festival of short films and music. (follows: Festival).
Festival’s theme: the music
2) May participate to the Festival directors and filmmakers who present shorts
filmed after the 1st of January 2010 in keeping with the theme presented in
point 1. Films presented to other festivals are also accepted.
3) Entries are open from the 8th of July 2014 until the 8th of October 2014 . The entry form can be downloaded from the Festival site . 4) You may enter up to 2 works.
5) The contest is divided in 2 sections: short films (where the main theme must be the music, in every possible way, as long as it is relevant for the film) and music video (short video clip, usually supporting a song ).
6 ) Material has to be sent by registered post at artist’s expense.
The following sentence has to be written upon envelope: “Solo a scopo culturale – senza valore commerciale”. Material has to be sent to the following address: “Cortonovo 2014 - Festival di cortometraggi e musica” Comune di Borgonovo, Ufficio Cultura Piazza Giuseppe
Garibaldi, 18, 29011 Borgonovo Val Tidone, (PC) . Material has to be sent
by the 8th of October 2014 Postmarked by deadline. Any material sent without entry form will be excluded from the competition.
The following material is needed:
a. A DVD VIDEO copy ( not protected- for technical reason). No other way
is accepted. Each DVD must contain only 1 short. On the DVD cover you
will have to write:
▪ First name and family name of director
▪ Title
▪ Duration
b. Entry form filled in, clearly and readable, in any of its parts and
appropriately signed.
c. Filmography and biography of director/ filmmaker
d. Promotional material for the film : flyers, posters, promocards, photoes
(not compulsory)
Shorts have to be:
- not longer than 10 minutes, titles and end credits included; for music videos, the limit is 5 minutes.
- free from any advertising or commercial message;
- free from promotional videos;
- in Italian or with Italian subtitles (not for music videos).
6) “Cortonovo 2014- Festival di cortometraggi e musica” co-ordinators are not to be considered responsible for any damage or material lost during travel to the festival and during the festival itself.
7) The shorts sent will not be given back and will be stored in the “Cortonovo - Festival di cortometraggi e musica”‘s archive.
They will be possibly shown during cultural non commercial events promoted by the City Council and for promotion of the Festival itself. In this case the festival co-ordinators will discuss consent with artist and rights holders.
8) Artists are responsible of the contents of the shorts sent, of the broadcast of
music/ images in the shorts that is protected by rights and of original
music /images.
The pre-selection Committee gives itself the right to exclude shorts with
racist or slanderous contents or with contents that may induce behaviour
against the law.
9) The festival co-ordinators will constitute:
- a Committee of experts that will provide to the pre-selection of the works,
that will take into accounts the Rules and Regulation requirements and that
will decree the candidates for the final stage;
- a Jury of artists, visual artists and academics.
The names of the Committee and the Jury will be announced by the 31st of October 2014 and made public by the press and on the web-site
10 ) The selected artists for the final stage will be notified by the 31st of October by phone call or by e-mail. By the same date the complete list of participants will be published on the website
The selected works will be presented to the public at the City Council ‘s
Auditorium at Borgonovo’s castle. On the date that will be made public by
the press and on the website .
The festival co-ordinators will show the non selected works to the public in
other dates to be established.
11) The finalist shorts will compete for the following prices:
▪ -1st price “Cortonovo 2014”: 800 €
▪ -2nd price “Cortonovo 2014”: 400 €
▪ -3rd price “Cortonovo 2014”: 250 €
▪ 1st price “Cortonovo 2014” – Music video Section: 200 €
The Committee, the Jury, the Artistic Direction of the Festival will give
special mentions to the most praiseworthy works.
The decisions of the Jury will be made public and the prices will be given at
the end of the films shown.
If the artist will not be present at the awards ceremony, the price will be
given to the nominees next in line.
12) The co-ordinators of the Festival reserve the rights to suspend or modify
the dates of the event if necessary , informing the participants right away.
13) Personal information will be used for the “Cortonovo 2014 - Festival di cortometraggi e musica” and for the other satellite educational events to promote the Festival itself by law n.196/2003 on privacy.
14) The program and all up to date adjournment of the festival will be
published on the site
15) The participation to the Festival implies that condition exposed on this
Rules and Regulations form have been accepted. Violating these rules will
result in the exclusion from the Festival.
