'Separate, Zealous, And Moving On

"Separate, Zealous, And Moving On!"

Hebrews 13:10-16

INTRO. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 says, "For the Love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." The word "constraineth" used in that passage is translated from a Greek word which means "to compel and to hold fast." We, as a child of God, are compelled to service for our heavenly Father. And because Christ died for us, we should die to self, and live for Him!

I want to title the message, "Separate, Zealous, And Moving On!" We MUST LIVE as Christ would live if He were living on the earth today! 1 John 2:15 says, "Love NOT the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." The Greek word used in that verse for "world" is "Kosmos" which means “the way or ways of the world-system." I wonder how the LORD Jesus would feel, if He were on the earth today, about homosexuality, abortion, doctor-assisted suicide, and blasphemy against God and His Word? I believe He would be called a bigot, fundamentalist, and rightwing religious fanatic! I'm GLAD and count it a privilege to be identified with Him!

In Hebrews 13, the writer exhorts his readers to obey God's moral laws, by practicing brotherly Love, personal kindness to strangers and prisoners, and by keeping the marriage bed pure and undefiled. Also, they were to be content with what they had and realize the LORD was always there and was their help! Next, the writer encouraged in vv. 7-9 his readers to follow religious direction, remember Christ never changes, and avoid strange teachings contrary to God's Word.

In vv. 10-16, which is our text, the Writer calls for separation, zeal, and advancement. We must, as v13 says, “Go forth.." Let us see where the advancement begins, how it progresses, and the attitude we MUST HAVE to go on!

CLOSING: Paul said, "for me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21). Can you say that? Is your life purpose and plea to magnify Christ with your body? Evangelist Billy Graham has said "Only one life 'twill soon be passed, Only what's done for Christ will last."
