WWDP 2021 ReflectionWorld Day of Prayer Committee of CubaRuth Mariet Trueba CastroENGLISH VERSION The theme “Build on a Strong Foundation” in the midst of a pandemic context, means for us to place God as the foundation of our lives, especially when so many “firm rocks” have crumbled in 2020. It is about building on the Word of God which has sustained us, but also it is about building on the basis of fraternal love that has become a concrete gesture, despite the distance, through the support networks. On the maxim that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, we also believe as valid to return to the importance of self-care and integral health, as well as the cultivation of our spirituality, quality time with family, caring for nature, and an economy of sharing. Building on a strong foundation is about walking together with God, living one day at a time, and renewing our hope. The prayer-action that our committee is promoting for this 2021, is a call for global health, and the unity of our churches to continue accompanying the Cuban people in service, love, and solidarity, in the current conditions that pose new challenges. We pray to continue collaborating with the kingdom of God by building on the basis of the exchange of experiences, prayer, and concrete actions of mutual support among Christian women who pray and act for the abundant life.Among the main plans for celebration that we want to share with you are virtual meetings of unity and prayer, organized by the promoters of the WDP. We will also carry out workshops, biblical studies and prayer days through WhatsApp groups, as well as an art contest for children. If during the month of March, it is possible to meet personally in small groups, the provincial coordinators of the WDP in each province will facilitate prayer meetings, but at the moment the panorama due to COVID-19 is very complex and it is safer to hold virtual meetings. Now, we want to extend our hands to build praying, on the solid foundation that is our God:?We pray for women around the world and especially for girls and women in Vanuatu, so that God?s hope encourages them to live each day, so that the mercy of Jesus Christ may always accompany them, and may the grace of the Holy Spirit flourish in them. May that, even behind the mask, they do not lack prayer or smiles, that despite the social distancing and the crisis, they do not lack love or extended hands that heal and bless. May we continue to build together, on the firm foundation of the Word of God. Amen. ................
