1971-1975 One and a half years of basic training in military. Served as a non-commissioned officer in Hamburg and as a Human Resource Manager at the Air Force Base in Goch, Germany.

AWARDS

1990 Awarded an International Equestrian Passport by the British Horse Society on the recommendation of the National Federation in Germany. The International Equestrian Passport enables me to train and teach internationally. I have trained riders in Germany, Holland, Austria, Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION: EQUESTRIAN RELATED

1990 Masters degree in “Instruction and Training”, German Federation, Warendorf, Germany. These studies included the following components: (1) Practical: riding dressage and jumping, working horses on the lunge, teaching and judging horses from a conformation point of view; (2) Theoretical: jumping and dressage theory, learning how to achieve goals, how to plan training sessions, and how to build muscle through gymnastics for horse and rider; (3) Economics and law: for stable management and breeding; (4) Career and Employment.

1990 Masters degree in Horse and Stable Management, State Breeding Farm, Dillenburg, Germany. These studies included the following components: (1) Practical: mucking stalls, grooming horses, feeding needs per horse, presentation of the horse for auction or sale, handling of stallions, how to judge the conformation of the horse; (2) Theoretical: food, feeding, hygiene, health care, and anatomy and physiology of the horse; (3) Economics and law: accounting of personnel, provision of salary and insurance, fundamental law related to the equestrian profession; (4) Career and Employment.

1987-1990 Siegfried Peilicke, Trainer of horses and riders for the German Federation FN and the German Equestrian Olympic Committee. Mr. Peilicke assisted me in putting the finishing touches on my Grand Prix horse, Aqumosamby, and gave clinics at my facility, Lindenbrunner Hof Dressage Academy in Heltersberg, Germany.

1982-1987 Egon von Neindorff, Cavalry Officer. I was his student at the Classical Riding Institute in Karlsruhe, Germany. This is the foundation upon which I have built my career.

1980 Riding Instructor Diploma

1976-1979 Piet Oothout (late), Chef d’Equipe for the Dutch Dressage Team at the World Equestrian Games, Montreal, Canada. I received lessons from Mr. Oothout and was able to observe him training horses and coaching students.

1976 Amateur Trainer Apprenticeship. Vechta, Germany. This apprenticeship included grooming, fitting of tack, farrier’s handicraft of corrective shoeing, dietary needs of horses, recognition of symptoms of sick horses, veterinary terms; extensive study of the gaits of the horse. The art of lunging, working a horse on a single or double lunge line became second nature. I was trained how to use my “eye” and “feeling” to bring a horse to its full potential.

1975-1976 Assistant to Jaap Pot, International judge for the Netherlands. Mr. Pot helped me train my “eye” to recognize the movement of the horse and how to transmit this knowledge to the rider.

EXPERIENCE AS INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN TRAINER

1999- Freelance trainer in the United States of horses and riders at novice through

present Grand Prix levels. Clinics and lessons in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Colorado, New Mexico, and Florida.

1986-2005 Owner and head trainer of Lindenbrunner Hof Dressage Academy in Heltersberg, Germany, a 35-stall facility with indoor and outdoor dressage arenas.

1985 Dressage Trainer at Reitverein Zweibruecken e.V. This position included stable management, training of horse and rider, organization of riding courses, competitive riding and coaching.

1983-1985 Director and Chief Instructor of Manege de Dollard in Winschoten, one of the largest facilities in Holland employing six farm workers and five trainers other than myself. As director, I was responsible for maintenance of the arenas, paddocks and stalls, purchasing feed, overseeing work of farriers and veterinarians. Five instructors worked under me. I monitored progress of training of horses and riders, delegating and altering their program as I saw fit. I organized large international competitions inviting riders such as Franke Sloothaak, winner of the World Championships and Olympics Games to participate.

1980-1983 Freelance coach in Holland and Germany. Students included Nicole Drescher who became the German Vice-Champion Junior Dressage Rider and successfully participated in the European Championships and Monika Huels who was third in the German Championships for Young Dressage Riders.

Gladiolus - trained from four years to Grand Prix, placed at the World Cup CDIs in Europe, showing at Grand Prix currently.

Wait and See – bought at age six and shown to Grand Prix.

Aqumosamby – bought at age eight and shown to Grand Prix.

Cheribert – bought at age three, placed 6th in European Championship for 3-4 year old dressage horses, shown to Prix St. George. Presently showing.

Wishdream – bought at age two, competed in World Championship for 5-6 year old dressage horses, shown to Intermediary I at World Cup CDIs in Europe; presently showing.

Otello - bought at age four, won to Intermediary I in Germany. Presently showing.

Sherhan - bought at age two, and presently showing to 4th level.

1979-1981 One of the most rewarding aspects of my equestrian training was working with handicapped riders at Reiten e.V. in Dillenburg, Germany and the Lebenshilfe Facility in Salzburg, Austria.
