What is it?

A free artist registry that will make it easy to identify and contact the rights holders for any image, and will finally provide artists, stock agencies and clients with secure image metadata. The non-profit PLUS Registry is not subject to influence or acquisition by commercial entities or special interests. Truly an industry-neutral resource.

Why should I sign up?

Register for a free listing to allow anyone in the world to easily find and contact you. Register your images and image licenses to allow authorized users to find rights and descriptive metadata using a PLUS ID or image recognition. The Registry will also serve to minimize the impact of any future orphan works legislation.

How do I get my free listing?

On July 13, 2011 all AMI members received an email invitation with an AMI express registration link. This link is member-specific to you and already affiliated to the AMI -- so don’t forward it to others! Simply click the link in the email and follow the instructions. There are video tutorials in the Help section.

Oops I deleted my email invite, how can I get another?

If you deleted the original email from July 13, 2011, wait for the email reminder in two weeks. Only two reminders will be sent. If you never received an AMI email invite, you can visit and click “Join” to create a free PLUS User Account and add your business to the Registry. You can request affiliation to AMI (PLUS ID: 01-AA-222) after you register.

Do I need a business account and PLUS ID#?

While PLUS membership and listing in the Registry are free, you may optionally become a “Supporting Member” by making a contribution. As a Supporting Member, you will receive an enhanced Registry listing and business account with access to additional features. You will receive a PLUS Member ID, uniquely identifying your business. You can reserve “Custom IDs” in your business name or slogan. You can list each artist within your business or institution so they can be found. The contribution is based on the size of your company. For example, a business with one employee is $125, but AMI members receive a 40% discount, reducing that contribution to $75. Full-time students and educators receive an additional discount.

Which contact method should I use?

You can display your phone number and email for viewers to see. Remember, the purpose of the registry is to BE FOUND! However, if you prefer to keep your contact info private, choose “Display a contact form in place of my business phone number and email address” under Manage Registry Listing. It is up to you to keep this info up-to-date should you move or change phone numbers.

When can I upload my images?

The Registry will be populated in phases. The first phase is listing artists and businesses. Once the Registry is populated with rights holders, PLUS will add the remaining modules supporting registration and search for images and image rights information. Finally, the Registry will enable integration with API and DAM systems, licensing platforms, and other applications.
