Media and Entertainment Decades ProjectThis project will encompass our entire final unit and will serve as your assessment grade for this unit. Be sure to follow the directions closely so you do not forget any of the steps along the way. You may use part of this project for the formative assessment – the Television Project – as well, if you would like. The objective for this activity is to assess your complete understanding of how Americans are defined by our popular culture in media. This project will also demonstrate how culture reflects our history through media. You will do this project for each of our “main” decades (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s) and one of our “extra” decades (20s, 30s, 40s).For each decade you will choose one Television show (any type – comedy, drama, game show, reality, etc), one Movie, and one Song that you believe is the best example of media and entertainment for that decade. Keeping our Popular Culture definition in mind (how Americans act, dress, speak, and believe) – you will explain how each media (TV show, Movie, AND Song) is a good representation of that definition. You will also demonstrate this by using images and video clips from the TV Show, Movie, and Song. (so you will have a written and visual component)You will create some sort of presentation to share with me (Google, Prezi, Powerpoint, Glogster, etc…) showing all six decades – in chronological order – with each of the three media. You will also need to include a Works Cited page at the end citing all of the places you found information and images/clips. If you make a slide presentation – you should have a title slide (w/ name and hour) followed by at least six slides – one for each decade (in chronological order). If you make any other type of presentation – please discuss with me how that presentation will “look” and we’ll talk about logistics of how you’ll ensure your information is included in a logical manner. In a nutshell – you will have six Decades, six TV Shows, six Movies, and six Songs, eighteen Explanations, eighteen Images/Clips, and one Works Cited page. Your time in the Learning Commons Lab will be Monday, Dec. 5, Tuesday, Dec. 6, and Thursday, Dec. 8th. The project will be due NO LATER THAN Friday, December 16th.This project is worth 100 points!! ................
