WOUND CARE FORMULRY CHANGES Please see the following dressing’s changes. These new dressings should now be prescribe by yourself or ordered. These dressings have been identified to either be more cost effect or beneficial to patients. If you are prescribing off formulary then you MUST fill in an exemptions monitoring form and send to tissue.viability@walsallhealthcare.nhs.uk the form will inform the wound care group why you have prescribed off formulary. The dressings can be cut. Clearpore is a latex free transparent film consisting of an absorbent pad. Suitable for post op surgical wounds. Can be used as a primary or secondary dressing. Barrier Film / Cream - Medi- Derma- S is applied as you would do with Sorbaderm. It is available in cream, spray and 1ml foam applicator The rep should have contacted all Dn bases to provide product information /Training. If he hasn’t contacted your base please feel free to call Brian on 07591 937738?.Dressing removal spray/ wipe – Lifteez is for ease of removal of adhesive dresings, pouches, and medical devices to minimize the potenital for skin stripping and pain on removal. Do not used on infected areas skin or if irriation occurs. Aviod use on delicate or sensitive areas of the skin. Absorbent Pad Xupad is a soft, highly absorbent dressing pad. The gentle contact layer is non-absorbent and low adherent, allowing fluid to pass freely into the dressing without adherence to the wound site. Xupad can be used as a primary or secondary dressing and is available in a wide range of sizes to suit all your wound care requirements.Non-woven dressing - 356 non-woven dressing – self-adhesive, soft non-woven dressing with a non-adherent absorbent pad suitable for superficial wounds with low exudate.Debridement wipe- UCS cloth is a pre moistened single use cloth for effective wound debridement and cleaning of the surrounding wound. Both sides of the cloth should be used no need to wet. Should not replace washing a patient leg. Silver – Acticoat flex- 3. Only to be used on infected wounds after other antimicrobials dressings have been used with no effect (see silver dressing pathway attached), or unless advised by TVN, Vascular, podiatry etc. Acticoat Flex 3 is designed to stay in place for a minimum of three days, and to be used only for a maximum of two weeks or until infection has resolved. Not to be used on patients with known silver sensitivity or undergoing MRI. Please also noted that following Compression wraps and compression treatment hosiery have been recommend as 1st and 2nd line products Compression Wraps /Hoisery kits The wound care group have reviewed evidence supplied by companies, staff feedback and looked at the cost of compression wraps. It has been decided that compression wraps will go onto the ancillary list. If you deiced that a compression is suitable for your patient then it is recommended that you will use the following:-Wraps 1ST Line is Ready Wrap compression wrap by L&R2nd Line is Jobst Farrow Wrap by BSN Hosiery Kits1st line :- Activa leg ulcer hosiery kit by L&R2nd Line:- Jobst Ulcercare by BSN Medical Please note Lymphodema patients may be precribed a different wrap then thoses stated above. ................
