To find the application(s) used in this document go to . This site is PKI Enabled and will require authentication to enter. Under the “Services” section click on “PKI”. Then go to the Alt. Token Page where all the application downloads and supporting documentation is contained.

The CAC reader middleware is software that provides the communications path between user’s CAC and the different applications on the workstation. This is needed on all systems where a user may need to use the CAC.  This document only covers the installation of ActivClient 6.1, 32 bit version, on the Windows Operating systems discussed in software section of this document. If your operating system is Windows 2003 Server x64 or Windows Vista x64, you will need to use ActivClient 6.1 64-bit Edition. For this version contact MCNOSC PKI at RAOperations@mcnosc.usmc.mil. The installation is the same for both an initial install and upgrading versions of ActivClient.

Software:

• Windows Vista 32 bit Version

• Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2

• Windows 2003 32 bit Version

• Windows 2000 (Server or Professional) Service Pack 4

1. Download and extract the application from the Zip file to the desired location on your hard drive.

2. Double click on the “ActviClient v6.1 Installer”.

To install ActivClient v6.1 x86 click “Install”. If this is an upgrade, you will follow the same procedures.

3. Click “Install/Upgrade Now”.

4. Click “Next”.

5. You must accept the terms in the license agreement and click “Next”.

6. This Build of ActivClient 6.1 is already configured for USMC use. Select the “Typical” install and click “Next”.

7. The application is ready to be installed, click “Install”.

8. For Upgrades, if a dialog box appears asking you to stop services click “No”. The system will be restarted at the end of the process.

9. Click “Finish” to complete the installation.

10. Restart your system, click “Yes”.
