In the article ‘Return of the Wolves’ animal rights activists and farmers are debating the issue of where endangered wolves

should make their comeback. Activists are proposing that wild wolves be released back into national parks. Specifically,

activists would like to repeat the experimental program conducted in Yellowstone National Park to include New York, Maine,

New Mexico, and Arizona. Farmers and ranchers are worried that releasing the wild wolves in traveling distances of big dairy

farms will endanger their way of life. They are concerned that these meat eaters will attack their livestock or hurt humans.

Activists responded to these claims by saying “The big bad wolf image is a lie. There is no record of wolves attacking humans.

Wolves only attack if their own food supply is in danger.” Furthermore, activist point out that wolves are an important part of the

food chain. Activists further propose they will pay any farmers/rancher the cost of lost cattle. Activists are hoping that wolves

become a familiar sighting across the U.S.
