Learning ActivitiesWeek of May 27th – May 29thMessage to studentsThis week:Write a schedule each morning. Include the hours and minutes of your activities of learning (and breaks). You should be doing a minimum of 1-1 ? hrs of Learning Activities per day.You should have a variety of activities from each area: Literacy, Numeracy, and Health & Wellbeing each day and consider trying the STEM challenge during the week.If you can, we are going to have a "virtual" recess together at 9:23am each morning Mon – Fri. Together We Dance: Our School District has requested radio stations to announce a health break and play an uplifting dance song each weekday morning at 9:23 am (in reference to the school district number) to promote physical activity and community while many students learn from home. Tune in to Virgin Radio 99.9 & 101.5 EZ Rock at 9:23 am each weekday morning.? Check out the YMCA's free virtual activities for kids:? Take a walk around your neighbourhood to find: something that flies, something that needs water to survive, something you can eat if you are an animal, something that can lift something else up, something made of metal, something made of wood, 5 pieces of garbage.? Multiplication Jumping Jacks. Use 2 dice or write the numbers 1-6 on pieces of paper (you will need 2 sets of numbers). Roll the dice or choose 2 numbers. Multiply the numbers together and find the answer. Complete that many jumping jacks. Keep track of your number of jumping jacks and see if you can keep going until you have done 200.? Turn on calming music. Stretch your body in different ways and hold the stretch. Stretch up to the sky, reach to your toes, make yourself as wide as possible, twist one way and then another. After 10 minutes of stretching, sit in a comfortable position. Take some time to close your eyes and pay attention to each of your senses, one at a time. What can you hear? What can you smell? What can you feel? What can you see? What can you taste??
