WORLD WAR TWO NEWSCAST PROJECT

WORLD WAR TWO NEWSCAST PROJECTTask: your group will research, create, and present a newscast about an event occurring in the years before American entry into World War II. Steps:Your group will need to develop some questions about the event (who, what when, where, why, how)—questions that address what people will need to know about your topic. Research the specific details of the event. You will need to report on at least three specific and concrete details.Write the Newscast script. Your group will need to report from the point of view of the countries involved. The newscast must report details and include the point of view of both sides. (Each topic lists the specific points of view you are required to include).Your newscast must include at least one eyewitness interviewYou should include interviews with two “experts”- each offering a different perspective about the event. Your experts can even address each other to debate specific points.Watch news programs on television or online for examples of how to set up your newscast!Review, revise, and rehearse your script before filming. Your script will be graded- the details within it must include all of the important information you are asked to provide (see rubric).PRESENTATIONUsing a digital camera, film your group presentation. Act out the script, use props, add sound effects, and creatively edit the video. The format should be similar to a newscast, however you have freedom to add appropriate segments, “commercials,” and other elements that will add to your production.Save the video on a flash drive, burn it to a DVD, or upload it to YouTube.Note: all project videos will eventually be embedded into a WWII project page on your personal class websiteEach event has at least two websites for research. Your group should use these websites and find at least one other source for obtaining information about the event. You will need to keep track of the websites where you get information from and create a bibliography. The bibliography will be the last page in your script. Use the Research Sheet to keep track of websites.GROUPS:You will be able to choose your groups. No group will have more than four students. Every student will be expected to contribute to the research, development of the script, and completion of the video. You all have very busy schedules outside of school—it is up to you work out days/times to meet to complete this project. If there are any issues that cannot be resolved, please see the instructor immediately. GRADING:You will earn an individual and group grade for this project.
