Present: Jo Phillips, David Hannis, Paivi Abernethy, Wynne LeComte, Jeff BatemanGuest: Frank Antonsen Regrets: Martin Bissig, Wendy O'Connor, Stephen Hindrichs, Michael Tacon, Bernie Klassen, Paula Johanson1. Caravan Stage Company @ Government Wharf - July 12, 13, 14. - Attendees agreed it was prudent to decline the role of co-presenter with its requirement of a 60/40 profit/loss cost-sharing agreement. Caravan has not supplied us with a reliable budget for the three nights. - We will carry out our earlier commitment to provide volunteer assistance and do short-term advance promotion, which could only begin once the confusion over whether tickets would be by donation, at set prices or free (as promised to the District of Sooke when Caravan made its successful Community Grant application in April). - Zach Ogilvie has designed the poster, which will be distributed locally by Jeff, Frank, Jo and Paivi- Stephen has created a poster for the Victoria area highlighting "a night out in Sooke." - Ads have been placed in the Sooke PocketNews ($126) and Sooke News Mirror ($210) - Press releases published by SPN and SNM- Frank has ordered roadside signage - We've been tasked with finding portaloos - impossible at short notice given summer festival season in the region, however the District has agreed to move one loo to the Government Wharf. - Volunteers for the three nights so far include Bev, Michael, Jo, Stephen, Frank and Jeff. We are asked to supply: i) ticket person; ii) two ushers; iii) one person to stand outside the site to direct foot and car traffic. - Action: Jeff to forward all our bills to Frank, who will follow-up with Caravan. 2. Focus will be on asking Council to consider a single-use plastic bag bylaw now that the CRD has created a model bylaw for the region and the City of Victoria has gone ahead with its own. - Jo led us through a scan of the latest ZWS minutes (attached below)- Jo reported on the first of the Sooke Country Market appearances this year- Jo took away the names of potential volunteers we collected on Earth Day.
