There is a template for them to fill out and think about the different questions asked. The children might need you to talk to them about what they have read as we have read the story over a long period of time. This will be practise for them writing their own book review of a book of their choice later in the week.English writing (45 Minutes)Weekly theme: PoetryToday’s objective: Explore different poemsToday’s lesson is a creative lesson to introduce this week’s theme of poetry. I have posted 3 different poems of varying lengths. The children can read all 3, or be read them if they are needed. Talk to them about what they enjoy in each poem. When you have talked about them, the children should choose one of the poems and create actions for it, to create a small performance piece. If they can read the poem and do the actions at the same time then challenge them to do that. If not, that is fine, an adult can read the poem while the children perform their matching actionsMaths (45 Minutes)To measure mlStarter – do a daily 10 activity online - It can also be found by googling daily 10. The children will need to choose level 2. They should then choose an addition activity.Today’s lesson continues on from last Thursday’s lesson on volume and capacity. Today’s learning looks at measuring in millilitres. It is important that the children understand that containers can have different capacities and hold different volumes of liquid. There is 4 challenges today, plus an extra challenge if the children want to challenge themselves.Science (45 Minutes)Take part in St. Matthew’s science weekThis week’s whole school theme week is science. Mr Peck has created a challenge for the whole school to have a go at, creating something that flies. Please take the time to read through the document I have posted and stress to the children that if their model doesn’t work, that is ok, its all about trying to create something. I will set this over the next two days to give the children plenty of time, although if you would like to do this later in the week that is fine. Please excuse the strange formatting on the word document, it started as a google document, but parents weren’t able to see this google doc, so I have moved it over to a word document and tried to tidy up any problems that have come up due to that.Extra Activities(Some things to do if you want to)Visit the twinkl home learning hub - Joe Wicks’ daily routineAttend the Year 2 Zoom call!Bake something deliciousCreate a portrait of someone in your family. All Resources also available as PDFs ................
