Originally codenamed Galahad Force, this special long-range penetration force trained and operated in Burma alongside British forces, 1943-44. Designated 1688th Casual Detachment, then 5307th Composite Unit (Provisional), in late 1944 it was designated the 475th Infantry Regiment.
