FAITH PROPORTIONATE REALIZATIONSMatthew 9:27-31 (Emphasis v. 29) & Ephesians 3:20-21INTRODUCTIONMatthew is the only one that gives a record of this miracle. Blindness was common in the eastern country; it was one of the very common afflictions of the natives of Palestine; the blear eyes, often crusted round with dried secretion and fly-infested, make some of the most sickening sights that may be seen in a Syrian village today. This common affliction in Palestine was thought to be due to ophthalmia, caused partly by the sun glare and partly by lack of cleanliness (Gospel Advocate Commentaries).“Opthalmia” - inflammation of the conjunctiva or the eyeball (also noted it may have been a contagious condition!)BODY OF LESSON I. Now the question is… (Matthew 9:28c) A. “Believe ye that I am able to do this?” (Matthew 9:28c) 1. These men had enough faith to follow Jesus & believed he could heal them (Matthew 9:27b & 28).II. “According to your faith…” (Matthew 9:29b) A. The verbiage of Jesus Christ ties direct correlation between ones faith & result! 1. People of “little faith” worry about the wrong things! (Matthew 6:30) 2. People of “little faith” struggle with fear! (Matthew 8:26 v. 23-26 included) 3. People of “little faith” don’t understand Jesus Christ! (Matthew 16:5-12) 4. People of “Little faith” fail to succeed! (Matthew 17:14-21)III. Believe it to achieve it! (Matthew 9:28c) A. These men BELIEVED Jesus could heal them! 1. “Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, yea, Lord.” (Matthew 9:28b & c) B. There is a real HEAVEN we want to go to! (Matthew 25:46, 2 Corinthians 5:1) C. God had a real purpose in creating us! (1 Corinthians 10:31) D. God created man to be good & good triumphs! (Psalm 27:13-14, Luke 8:15, Romans 8:28) E. His providence provides & He fulfills His promises! (1 Peter 3:12, Romans 8:28, 2 Peter 3:9)CONCLUSIONKnow today and forever that there is a direct correlation between of faith and those things that come to pass in our lives. In order to positively impact the end result, let’s be mindful of:The fact that we must believe that our Lord can! That in direct correlation to our faith is there positive realizations! That we must believe what it is & through who it is that we desire to achieve!Matthew 9:27-31 (KJV) 27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. 28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. 31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country. Ephesians 3:20-21 (ASV) 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 unto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen. Matthew 6:30 (KJV) 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Matthew 8:23-26 (KJV) 23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. 25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. 26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. Matthew 16:5-12 (KJV) 5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. 6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. 8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? 9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? 12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. Matthew 17:14-21 (KJV) 14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Matthew 25:46 (KJV) 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. 2 Corinthians 5:1 (KJV) 1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV) 31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Psalms 27:13-14 (KJV) 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Luke 8:15 (KJV) 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Romans 8:28 (KJV) 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 1 Peter 3:12 (KJV) 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
