Benchmarking
1. Every child in your class is benchmarked 3 times a year at their assigned grade level. You may progress monitor at a lower grade level if need be.
3. Record scores as corrects/errors. Math scores are just scored as #correct.
Fluency
4. Each child should read 3 passages for fluency (R-CBM) benchmarking.
5. Each fluency passage is timed for 1 minute.
6. Please stress best, not fastest, reading.
Comprehension
7. Each child at gr. 3, 4 should be given 1 maze assessment for benchmarking.
8. Maze is timed for 3 minutes.
Math
9. Each child should be given 1 math assessment for benchmarking.
10. Children should be encouraged to work across the page, not skip around. They may put an X over a problem if they really can’t do it.
11. Grades 2 & 3 are timed for 2 minutes. Grades 4 & 5 are timed for 4 minutes.
AimsWeb Bins
12. In the blue folder in the front of your Aimsweb bin you should find:
- The booklets to record the benchmarking scores for fluency and comprehension
- Fluency and Maze tracking sheets
- Directions for maze
- Maze cover sheet
- Directions for fluency
Directions for fluency can also be found in the scoring booklets.
***If there is anything missing from your bin, go to the teacher section of FirstClass. There is an AimsWeb folder there with all forms that you should need.
