tHE GRAND KNIGHT

Dear Brothers in Christ,

We want to thank the entire Council for an outstanding effort in contributing to the good of St. Irenaeus and our Catholic Community this past month. We pulled together, as the TEAM we really are, in supporting the Day of Sharing for the Intellectually Disadvantaged by operating a booth for the ID participants who expressed great joy in playing the games and receiving their prizes. They and we received much reward in the exchanges. Special thanks go to Brothers Jose, Lloyd, Ken, Bill, Frank and Richard, whose daughter Mary brightened our day.

Our Council, partnering with the other St. I ministries, successfully completed all the Friday Fish Fries with a great deal of coordination, planning, hard work and much cleanup. More credit than we have space for here go to Brothers Virgil-Mr. Organizer supreme- Jim, Bobby, all the Georges, Lito, Rollie, Jose, Leo, Richard, Peter and Lady Rowenta, Thomas, Chris, Inan, Ken, Greg and others we missed. Please see the financial secretary's report for the results.

After a glorious Easter, we ended the month with the Annual Golf Tournament-now named in honor of our beloved and missed K of C Insurance agent, Mike Doss. RIP friend to us all. We will list the winners in the next newsletter. So much thanks goes to Brother Mike Mercer and his committee for all the time and effort he has contributed to our major fundraiser of the year.

Thank God for his son and all our blessings and Community where we share care, love and concern for our spiritual needs and desires.

"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." John 6:35

An unknown author wrote the following words: He who is the Bread of Life began His ministry hungering. He who is the Water of Life ended His ministry thirsting. Jesus hungered as a man, yet fed the hungry as God. He was weary, yet He is our rest. He paid tribute, yet He is the King. He was called a devil, but He cast out demons. He prayed, yet He hears our prayers. He wept, and yet He dries our tears. He was sold for 30 pieces of silver, yet He redeems sinners. He was led as a Lamb to the slaughter, yet He is the Good Shepherd. He gave His life, and by dying He destroyed death. Throughout His life Jesus showed himself to be a Man of striking contrasts reflecting both His genuine humanity and His full deity. How amazing that He who was truly above all made Himself servant of all. This Jesus is worthy of all our love, all our worship and all our sacrifice."

It takes someone brave to be a mother. Someone strong to raise a child and someone special to love someone more than she loves herself. Mary the mother of Jesus had all those qualities.

A very Happy Mother's Day to all our moms. Numbers 6:24-26 "The Lord Bless you and keep you; May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you, and may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace."
