VW integration looms
Porsche Holding boosted its new-car sales in 2009 by expanding into Greece, Serbia and Ukraine. Some 260 of the company's dealers sell VW Group brands. As part of
Porsche's integration into VW, the Porsche and Pi?ch families agreed to sell the dealer group to VW from 2011. The business was assigned an enterprise value of 3.55 billion euros.

U.S. group targets Germany
The U.S. dealer group has more than 148 franchises in Europe, mainly in the UK, where it owns the Sytner Group, a company it took over in 2002. The group has also been expanding
in Germany where it has 36 dealers. In Europe, the company's main brands are BMW, Mini, Audi, Mercedes, Toyota, Lexus, Jaguar, Land Rover and Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge.

Expanding in China
Inchcape weathered the crisis well in 2009. Its unit sales and revenue were down, but the company ended the year debt free. The group is based in the UK but operates in 26
countries. In 2008, Inchcape bought Musa Motors, a leading Russian luxury car dealer. The group has also said it will strengthen its activities in Hong Kong and Australia.

Hurt by shortage of VW Polos
D'Ieteren's auto business is exclusively selling VW group and Porsche cars in Belgium. The group's new-car sales were hit by an 11 percent decline in the Belgian car market in 2009.
The group was also hurt by the delayed launch of models with lightly taxed engines and by a supply shortage of Polos because VW gave priority to the German market.

Expansion plans on hold
Rolf was hit hard in 2009 by the collapse of Russia's car market. It relinquished 40% of its Mitsubishi import business to the manufacturer and cancelled plans to sell Peugeot,
Toyota, Lexus and VW cars. The group is focusing more on the aftermarket and is cooperating with the UK Kwik-Fit company to open a network of repair centers across Russia.
