Purpose

Have you ever wondered what you will do to earn money when you are grown up? The fields of electrical engineering and electronics have much to offer. Many of the jobs offer job security, travel, great salaries, and very good benefits. Sound interesting?

In this activity, you are going to investigate different job opportunities, salaries, responsibilities, and the training each requires.

Equipment

• Computer with internet access

Procedure

1. Select three jobs within an electronics career cluster.

2. Research those jobs using the available research materials. You will focus your research on a job obtainable at the conclusion of each of the following educational paths:

• High School

• High School Plus two years post secondary or apprenticeship

• High School plus four or more years post secondary

In your research, you will seek information on:

• Job descriptions

• Salary expectations

• Job outlook for the next 10 years

3. Fill out the chart on the next page as you do your research.
