Jay Wilkinson Reinforces Values to Weather Storms of Ethical Conflict

During Oct. 25 OK Ethics Luncheon

TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 12, 2012) – Author and motivational speaker Jay Wilkinson will talk about values, attitude, preparation, perseverance, character, selflessness and faith as tools to help individuals weather storms of ethical conflict.

His presentation takes place during the next Tulsa Chapter of Oklahoma Business Ethics Consortium (OK Ethics) luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Jay’s father Bud Wilkinson was one of the greatest coaches in college football history.  His University of Oklahoma teams won three national championships and at one time captured 47 straight victories – a record that remains untouched. Bud Wilkinson’s leadership abilities were highly sought by world-renowned figures including two U.S. presidents.

Jay Wilkinson was a standout football player at Duke University, where he earned All-American honors. After graduating from Duke, Jay pursued a divinity degree and spent years in public service. He later worked in an executive capacity with the financial services industry for 37 years.

Jay has authored two books, including the latest “Dear Jay, Love Dad: Bud Wilkinson’s Letters to His Son,” released by the University of Oklahoma Press in January 2012. During his presentation, Jay will share the many lessons learned from his father that shaped his own life and future successes in the business world.

“Many of the lessons I learned came in the form of letters I received from him during my college and graduate school years,” Wilkinson said. “As I re-read the letters, what surprised me is how relevant the lessons around leadership, communication, parenting and positive reinforcement are today as when they were written 50 years ago. I hope people who walk away from the presentation recognize the importance of writing their own letters of love, encouragement and support to inspire others.”

The luncheon is recommended for one Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit in ethics.

“Jay’s presentation is about much more than football,” said OK Ethics Tulsa Chapter President Kevin Kennemer. “He will describe how the positive values of a leader can create winning teams. What happens in the locker room and on the field can also occur inside companies. A long-standing, winning company is led by leaders with great integrity.

“With the backdrop of the college football season in full swing, Jay Wilkinson brings to Tulsa the highest quality of speaker who will make a positive impression with his audience. Do not wait to reserve your seat.”

The luncheon is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel downtown, 616 W. Seventh St. The cost is $25 for OK Ethics members and $35 for nonmembers. Reservations are required. Guests are encouraged to attend. Register online at by Monday, Oct. 22.

Free parking is available in the covered parkade adjacent to the hotel. For additional questions about the program or event registration, contact Kevin Kennemer at (888) 797-9992 or kevin@. More information on Jay Wilkinson can be found at .
