Math- **Everyday in math will begin with a daily warm-up check (students will put this in their binder) and they will have a daily grade on the back of the worksheet on Friday, voc. words, and a short video of the days lesson. Students that do not know their multiplication/division facts need to learn these. and is a great way to practice.
**Students have made a multiplication book. This includes “tricks” to help students learn their multiplication facts. This needs to remain in their binder until after Christmas break.
Mon- Timed check on 4’s. Students will complete study guide and check with teacher. HW- get study guide signed and study for test
Tues.- Students will complete 1-1/1-4 and Unit 5 Test. HW- none
Wed.- p. 138-141 Timed check on 6’s. Students will record multiplication using an expanded algorithm. Students will complete reteaching 6-1 and check with teacher. HW- Practice 6-1
Thurs- p. 146-147. Timed check on 7’s. Students will multiply 2-digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using standard algorithm and estimate to check for reasonableness. Students will practice on the dry erase boards solving the problem and turning it around for teacher to check. Students will complete reteaching 6-3 and check with teacher. HW- Practice 6-3
Fri.- p. 148-151. Timed check on 8’s. Students will use standard algorithm to multiply 3 and 4 digits numbers by 1 digit. Students will practice on dry erase boards holding them up for the teacher to check. Students will complete reteaching and practice 6-4 and check with teacher.
Science- Today students will begin a week unit on animals.
Mon.- Students will make flashcards with vocabulary words. HW-study flash cards
Tues.- Students will add a foldable on the ant life cycle to their science notebook. HW-What are animal life cycles?
Wed.- Students will complete an Ed Helper Quiz. HW-study flash cards
Thurs.- Students will complete a keynote using their voc. words. This will be a test grade. HW-study flash cards
Fri.- Students will complete a quiz on voc. words. Students will finish up their keynote presentation using their voc words.
Tutorial: I will be reteaching students who made below a B on the Unit (1-4) and (5-1)-(5-3) daily grade. Other students will be working on iPads…practicing multiplication/division basic facts and Khan Academy.
Common core standards covered in Unit 1:
4.OA.1 Interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison
4.OA.2 Multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison
4.OA.3 Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
4.OA.4 Find all factor pairs for a whole number in the range 1-100. Recongnize that a whole number is a multiple of each of its factors.
Common core standards covered in Unit 5:
4.NBT.3 Use place value understanding to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place.
4.NBT.5 Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by one-digit whole number using strategies based on place value and the properties of operation. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equation, rectangular arrays, and are models.
Science:
L.4.2.1 Compare and contrast life cycle of familiar animals.
L.4.2.2 Develop and use models to explain the unique and diverse life cycles of organisms other than humans.
