Thank you. MORNINGLet’s get started challenge Join Joe wicks for his new daily workouts! Maths Learning objective: Can I add 2 numbers using a 100 square?Extension: can I use what I know about tens and ones to make a shortcut? Introduction:This week we will be recapping addition. We will be exploring different ways and then in future you can choose the way which suits you best.Remember there are some top tips for adding:It is easier to have the biggest number first.The answer will always be bigger than the number you started with.You can use what you know about place value and number facts to help you.You can check an answer by subtracting. Today use a 100 square (see below). Try 14 + 5 =Remember put your finger on the first number then count on carefully but don’t count the number you started on!Now try 25 + 12 =Use what you know about 10 more and 1 more to add using a shortcut.For example: for 25 + 12 first break the number into 1 ten and 2 ones. Then add 1 ten by moving down a square and 2 then add 2 ones by moving across to squares to the right. Do the worksheet below.Additional challenge: work out the sums mentally.Activity- see sheets below English Learning objective: Can I plan a story about 2 elves who help others?The story and activity pack is on the school website under classes. The pages to be completed will be indicated on the daily notes. If you don’t have a printer your child can record their answers on paper. IntroductionClary, Pepper and Jas have lots of elf friends who like to help people too:Jolly and Merry help Father Christmas Cupcake and Cookie help Mr. and Mrs. Pie in their bakeryThis week we will be making up a story about some elves that help people.Today decide who your characters are- 2 will be enough.What will you call your characters? Next decide who they help. What are their names?After that think about where your story takes place.Finally think about how they help. Today you will make a story plan and use the story mountain on page 14 to help you. (also printed below) Activity: Put your ideas onto the story mountain. Use the sheet from your story pack on the one below.Handwriting/ spellings, grammar, punctuation or phonicsLearning objective: Can I use capital letters at the start of a sentence and full stops at the end?Can I use commas to separate words in a list? Introduction Capital letters are used at the start of a sentence, for names of people and places and for the word ‘I’.Commas, sit on a line and separate words in a list. Today we are going to use them to separate words in a list. For examples: In the fridge were carrots, lettuces, mushrooms and peppers.The commas doesn’t get used after the last word in the list. Watch On the same webpage do activity 1 – Where do the commas go? Then do activity 2. Watch the video and think about what you can see them growing.What do you grow on in your garden or allotment?Make a list of 4 fruits or vegetables.Now turn this list into a sentence.Remember to put in the commas. Don’t forget to start your sentence with a capital letter and finish with a full stop.Lunchtime!AFTERNOON Reading Read at least 3 pages of a book. Topic Learning objective:Can in make a body and label all the parts? Introduction:None of the family portraits from last week matched the photo!So we need to look at the next clue.Clue 3: an x ray (enlarged below).Will this give us an idea of who the box belonged to?Firstly we need to know all the names for the parts of the body we can see. Sing ‘hand shoulders knees and toes? Ensure you can all point to the correct parts of your body Play-Simon Says’Beneath the surface of what we can see are muscles, skeletons etc.What is an x ray? i.e. it shows bones. Activities.Print off the parts of the body sheet on the home learning page, cut out and make a body. If you can’t print off, create your own body.Now label it e.g. arms, legs.
