GENERAL CONDUCT

EVERY CLUB MEMBER SHARES THE DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF THESE RULES.

All members and their guests are expected to act civilly and contribute to an environment of fellowship and mutual respect. All members should be courteous and kind. The club is here for us all to enjoy. Also be mindful of our residential neighbors.

A good motto is to, "Leave the house and grounds cleaner than you found it".

Members must have membership card on them at all times while on club property. At the request of any member, you are expected to present the card for identification purpose.

The use of Federal Schedule I drugs (those that have no accepted medical use in the US, a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse) on club property is prohibited.

Individuals using the facilities of NFG are expected to leave them clean and to place all trash in designated containers.

All fired cases and shotgun hulls shall be picked up by the shooter. Any spent casings or hulls left by the shooter are considered club property and may not be taken without approval.

Members are responsible for their pets brought onto NFG property. Pets are not allowed in the hall or kitchen at any time.

No individual shall use the NFG Club name for his or her personal gain without the approval of the NFG Board of Directors.

No individual shall use the facilities of NFG for any teaching or training for which they are compensated without the permission of the NFG Board of Directors.

The NFG Board of Directors reserves the right to refuse the use of any club facility to any individual who in their sole opinion poses a risk to themselves or others.

SAFETY

The Board of Directors believes that safety is the most important goal of the shooting sports. Therefore, range rules must be strictly adhered to, to achieve the high level of safety, which this club must maintain in order to survive and promote the shooting sports.

Any member found to be in violation of the Rules & Regulations shall be subject to disciplinary action by the Board of Directors, in accordance with the club by-laws, including possible loss of membership.

EVERY Club Member shares the DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY for the enforcement of these RULES.

Safe gun handling is required at all times. It is the shooter’s responsibility to be familiar with the safe operation of any firearm he/she handles or uses.

Firearms must be unloaded and the actions open when uncased anywhere on NFG property except when actually shooting. Break open firearms may have actions closed in gun racks.

Eye and ear protection are mandatory for all individuals on all firearm venues. This includes shooters, spectators and range personnel.

No alcoholic beverages are permitted on any shooting venue. Individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted on any venue in any capacity.

Range hours are 9am to sunset. Scheduled dates and hours for trap and skeet night shooting will be posted in the clubhouse.

Any individual bringing a firearm onto NFG property must be in legal possession of it under Connecticut State and Federal law.

Members are responsible for insuring that their guests are familiar with the safe operation of any firearm or equipment they may use and that they understand and comply with these rules.

Persons under 16 years old must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or instructor recognized by the ATA, NRA, NSCA, or USA Shooting.

Dry firing and sighting exercises must be conducted under the same conditions as actual firing.

No loaded firearms are permitted in the clubhouse.

TRAP AND SKEET

GUESTS USING THE TRAP AND SKEET FIELDS MUST BE UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF A MEMBER WHO IS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE IN SHOTGUN SAFETY.

Actions must be open and firearms unloaded except when the shooter is on the shooting station and is prepared to shoot.

Shotguns of 12 gauge or smaller may be used. Rifles and handguns are not permitted.

The maximum shot size permitted is 7.5 lead for trap and 9 lead for skeet. The use of slugs, buckshot, or single round ball ammunition is prohibited.

Targets provided and thrown by NFG are the only targets permitted on the fields.

Firearms may be loaded and targets attempted only from the legal shooting stations specified for the course being fired. Firearms must be pointed in a safe direction at all times. Particular attention must be paid when loading or dealing with malfunctions.

Shooters must not load more than two shells. Trap shooters must load only one shell except when shooting doubles.

Misfires and damaged ammunition must be retained by the shooter and removed from NFG property. Do not dispose of live ammunition in trash containers.

Individuals must not go forward of the skeet houses before insuring that it is safe to do so.

Individuals must not load target machines unless properly educated by the club president, director, or a member of the appropriate discipline committee.

Individuals must exercise caution when entering or exiting skeet and trap houses when adjacent fields are in use.

Individuals must not attempt to service or adjust any target machine. Any problems with equipment should be reported to the skeet or trap chairman.

ATA, NSCA, NSSA, USAShooting rules, as appropriate will govern squadding and shooting procedures.

A round of skeet or trap is 25 legal targets. Shooting at extra targets without payment is considered to be theft.

Pick-up all your hulls when finished shooting trap or skeet. Any spent hulls must be taken with you or placed in the spent hulls barrel located in clubhouse. Any hulls left behind are considered club property.

Load trap houses with new targets when finished shooting your rounds of trap or skeet.

Pay for your rounds of trap or skeet with NFG tickets or cash in the clubhouse after completing your shoot and sign the shooting log.

When finished shooting and checking that the fields are not to be immediately used, load and close trap houses, turnoff power in electric box and padlock.

PISTOL

GUESTS MUST BE UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF A MEMBER WHO IS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE IN HANDGUN SAFETY.

No rifle above 22-mag rim fire is permitted on NFG pistol range.

All muzzles must be pointed down range unless holstered or cased.

Muzzles must never be pointed at or over the top of the berm. Shooters must bring firearms up to the target – not down to it.

Firearms must not be handled when anyone is down range. All firearms must be either holstered or unloaded and benched with actions open and magazines removed before anyone moves forward of the firing line. At no time may a loaded firearm be left unattended.

Firearms may be loaded only when the range is clear, the shooter is positioned on the firing line and is prepared to shoot.

Targets must be placed in such a manner that all rounds will impact on the backstop. Shooting at targets placed on the ground is prohibited.

Shooters must use safe and proper targets only. The use of glass, ceramics, concrete blocks, appliances, electronic components, exploding targets, or objects likely to cause safety risks or maintenance problems is prohibited. NFG supplied bowling pins are permitted.

Properly constructed steel targets must be placed a minimum of 12 yards from the shooter. Shoot steel targets straight on, do not shoot at an angle. Steel targets are meant to lean forward do not place anything under target stand to straighten out target. The small dueling tree is for rim fire ammo only. When done using plate rack roll up reset cord and hang on plate stand, do not leave on ground.

Range fixtures, benches, tables, chairs, etc. are not to be used as targets or target stands.

Fully automatic firearms are not permitted.

Shooters are responsible for policing the range after use. Old targets, empty ammunition boxes, etc. must be placed in the proper trash receptacles or taken with you when you leave. Dud rounds and damaged ammunition must be retained by the shooter and removed from NFG property. Any spent brass you shoot must be taken with you or put in the brass chute in front of shed. Any spent aluminum or steel casings you shoot must be taken with you or thrown in garbage. Any spent casing not shot by you is considered club property and may not be taken.

No vehicles are to be driven on the pistol range forward of the pavilion except for range maintenance.

The mining of lead is prohibited.
