You will receive the Zoom meeting information when the date gets closer.Men’s ‘Steps to Recovery’ Weekend:Since 1986, the Men’s Steps to Recovery Weekend has provided an opportunity for alcoholics to meet and together share their 12-step recovery experience. It wasn’t the first 12-step weekend retreat that involved alcoholics; but it was the first one in the area that was a ‘men only’ weekend. The Steps to Recovery organizers desired to have a distraction free, 12-step ‘boot camp’ for men to examine their recovery. That first weekend was set for the last weekend in January. The only significance for that date was that there was an opening in the schedule at the St. Joseph Christian Life Center.As a result of these weekends, many small miracles have changed the lives of thousands of alcoholics and their families. Some of you may have been a part of the miracle unfolding during the weekend as a struggling man experiencing the ‘steps’ for the first time. Some of you may truly have been a part of the miracle as you gained a clearer and better understanding of certain steps or an opportunity to either do or hear a 5th step. Very likely, you felt the spirit of God (as you understand Him), as a shiver when we recite the Lord’s Prayer… or as tears of joy knowing that you’d never have to live ‘that way’ again. A fellowship grew as we shared our experience, strength and hope with each other and learned to trust God, clean house and help another alcoholic and live in accordance with the 12 Steps.That first weekend was attended by at least one alcoholic that couldn’t afford the registration fee. Anonymously, one alcoholic helped another alcoholic. When that alcoholic said that he was grateful, he was told that gratitude is an action; pay for someone else when he was able. Scholarships have enabled scores of financially struggling alcoholics to experience their miracle.You are reading this because at one time you attended a Men’s Steps to Recovery weekend. We hope that you’ll be attending this year as well, or perhaps you’re unable to attend this time. In any case, please consider completing the attached registration form and donating a partial or full scholarship for a financially struggling alcoholic. You may include any amount with your registration. If you wish, you may fill in the form for someone else or simply for ‘another alcoholic’. All donations and scholarships will be kept confidential.
