GAUS HIGH RATE DISCHARGE TESTER PR1000A12V/PR1500A12V

The Gaus High Rate Discharge Tester is particularly designed for testing the cranking performance (cold and warm cranking) of automotive batteries. The PR1000A(1500A)12V performs discharge tests with selectable current values in accordance with all national and international test standards.

The PR1000A(1500A)12V contains one discharge circuit with integrated microcomputer interface. Central control by means of a host computer of the AT type with GBTS1.05 Software (Host Computer Type).

Guaranteed operation of the discharge circuit also in case of failure or interruption of the host computer by down-loading the complete test program into the microcomputer interface.

The PR1000A(1500A)12V with GBTS1.05 have been designed as an integrated system, combining power conversion, circuit control, computer control, data recording and data reporting. As a result, this system meets most battery testing needs: high reliability, complete functionality, accuracy, ease of data recording, troubleshooting, numerous data presentation formats, and easy maintenance. In this way it provides increased laboratory efficiency and accuracy.

Additional ratings and options are continually added to the product line. Furthermore, “GAUS StS” is also happy to work with customers to provide special customisation options where needed.

Operating Simplicity

Test initiation and control are via the mouse or keyboard. After a program has been selected and the battery connected, simply depress the START key to initiate the test sequence. While discharging, the GBTS1.05 will display the status of the test and the test results in graphical or columnar form on the real time basis. It will show the mode of operation (ready, connect battery, running, stopped, paused, error…) the program number, the step number and the test parameters (amperes, volts, elapsed time...). The test may be stopped and restarted at any point in the discharge.

GAUS UNIVERSAL BATTERY TESTER GUBT25/50A12V

The Gaus Universal Battery Tester GUBT is particularly designed for testing automotive batteries. But it may also be used for testing all other types of batteries, just by setting the required current and voltage values. The GUBT performs the functions “charge” and “discharge” with selectable current values, as well as pause steps, repetition of a test program as a whole or in parts (cycling) and the registration of the measured data.

Many of the standardized test programs use the current as nominal value. But voltage, power or resistance values may be used as well. A program step may be terminated not only after a specified time, but also when a certain voltage or an Ah (or Wh) values is reached. For registration of the measured values, intervals of time, voltage, amperhours, or energy (Watt-hours) are suitable parameters.

Design and Function

In the standard version, 5 or 10 charge-discharge circuits are combined in one cabinet with a common power supply. Each circuit is provided with its own control unit and the respective power unit. Three-phase AC ensures the mains supply. GUBT25/50A12V can resolve the main power failure problem and continue with testing automatically after that.

The programmable control unit is the core of each charge-discharge circuit. It is a standalone microcomputer system for a data logging and precise control of analogue measured values. It also assumes the processing of stored test programs.

In the manual operating mode, it is possible to select one of the stored programs No 1-8, interrupt and terminate the program by pressing the respective button. Digital instruments for battery voltage and current are fitted on the front panel.

Automatic operating mode is made via host computer with GBTS106 party line host computer software.

The Programs

All tests programs can be split into steps, where certain operations must be executed under well-defined conditions. Each step is fixed in a program line.

Each program step is divided into columns and each column has a headline describing its function.

Column explanations:

Column: Label

Each program step can be labeled which is used for controlling of program executing.

Column: Operation

Each program step starts with an operator determining the function of the test circuit. The operator names are simple abbreviations of the respective functions (charge, discharge, ramp, cycle, pause, stop).

INDUSTRIAL BATTERY TESTER GIBT

The Gaus Industrial Battery Tester GIBT is designed for testing of industrial batteries in a way to meet any requirement, I. E. charge and discharge with freely selectable current, pauses and repetition of a test procedure as a whole or in parts (cycling) and the registration of the measured data. Testing is not limited to lead-acid batteries, but it is possible to test all other types of electrochemical power sources.

Many of the standardized test programs use the current as nominal value. But voltage, power or resistance values may be used as well. A program step may be terminated not only after a specified time, but also when a certain voltage or Ah (or Wh) values is reached. For registration of the measured values, interval of time, voltage, amperhours, or energy (Watt-hours) are suitable parameters.

Each GIBT is provided with its own programmable control and power unit. The power unit is alternatively made in transistor technique or designed as an inverter. For smaller power requirements in the range of 100W to 5000W several charge-discharge units are combined in one cabinet with a common power supply. Each circuit is provided with its own programmable control and the respective transistor power assembly. GIBT for small nominal voltage and high current are preferably made in transistor technique. The discharge energy is converted into heat in power transistors and resistors. More powerful units are designed as inverters and the energy is fed back to the mains.

GIBT200/300A12V je mikroprocesorki uređaj za laboratorijsko ispitivanje svih vrsta testova kapaciteta, životnog veka itd. industrijskih baterija po svim standardima ispitivanja. To je uređaj iz familije Gausovih uređaja predviđenih za rad u party line sistemu (veći broj uređaja na zajedničkoj komunikacionoj liniji sa PC računarom) u okviru softvera tipa Gaus Battery Test System GBTS1.**. GBTS106 is the latest generation of adaptable programmable party line software from GAUS StS for Windows operating system written in Borland’s Delphi. It is designed for battery plants with well-equipped laboratory’s with number of different test units (but not necessary) and laboratories with the strongest requirements for efficiency and accuracy. It means, for example, that you can connect a few GAUS formatting (charging) system GFS20A100V, a few high rate discharge testers PR1000A12V, a few PR600A12V/24V, universal battery tester GUBT25 with ten chargers and dischargers on the same host computer... Then you can control all those units from one place, you can program all those units, compare them, you can monitor all tests on real time base etc.

Data is stored in and named by the module number, or a specific name can be assigned. In addition to circuit data, the file can also contain the battery identification, the test identification, and an online description of the details of the test.

The Module Status screen details the operational mode of an individual circuit and gives the numeric values for the data parameters on a real-time basis. It also illustrates options such as cell voltages.

The Overall Status screen allows viewing the status of all circuits simultaneously. A cursor can be moved to any circuit to access the module status screen for an individual circuit or view the data file information for that circuit.

The program Menu is used to create programs, store and retrieve them from the library, send a program to a module, or modify a program step and send it to the module to be performed immediately.

The module microprocessor then runs the program, stores the data according to the sample rate and on command, and transmits the data to the computer for storage in the appropriate data file.

The Programs

All tests programs can be split into steps, where certain operations must be executed under well-defined conditions. Each step is fixed in a program line.

Each program step is divided into columns and each column has a headline describing its function.

Column explanations:

Column: Label

Each program step can be labeled which is used for controlling of program executing.

Column: Operation

Each program step starts with an operator determining the function of the test circuit. The operator names are simple abbreviations of the respective functions (charge, discharge, ramp, cycle, pause, and stop).

Column: Set value

As nominal values for this step may be entered current, voltage or resistance of power values.

Column: Term. condition

The termination values current, voltage, time, capacity, energy and temperature determine the end of a program step and thus the beginning of the next program step. In building of condition can be used logical operators AND, OR, NOT.

Column: Term. action

Possibilities for The Term. Action columns are:

GOTO label -transfers program control to the specified program step

NEXT -goes to the next program step

STOP -terminates program

Column: Abort condition

The values entered under this column may be the same as for the termination values. However, in this case, the program run will be terminated if one of these limit values is reached.

Column: Registration

The conditions for the registration are entered into the last column. These may be time intervals or changes in current, voltage, capacity, energy or temperature.
