13/02/09: TRAIN CONTRACT GOES TO JAPAN: A Japanese company won the £7.5 billion order for intercity trains defeating a rival that owns Britain’s only train factory. The Government said that the contract would create or safeguard 12,500 jobs but most of the jobs are likely to go to Japan.
