GS and CT are not accepted.There is no minimum cut off score. Total UKCAT scores of all applicants will be separated into deciles and scored with a maximum score of 3. GCSEs and UKCAT are scored in a 70% to 30% weighting respectively. English language, English literature, math’s, chemistry and biology are scored in a ratio of 4:2:1 for A*, A and B respectively. 2 further subjects are scored, 2 points will be given for an A*, if the grade is any lower no points will be given. This score is scaled to a maximum of 7 points so the combined maximum score with the UKCAT is 10 points. High number of A* grades (especially in specified core subjects) at GCSE and a good UKCAT score.Few A* grades at GCSE and a lower UKCAT score. Bristol A100 () 5 GCSE grade A’s including math’s, English language and 2 sciences. AAA including chemistry + another lab based science. GS and CT are not accepted.Contextual offers of AAB are available. Is required. Must have a minimum of 2 weeks work experience in a care setting before applying.Pre interview scoring is as follows: 20% Academics (Alevel score 12% and GCSE score 8%), 70% personal statement score. 10% UKCAT. Good personal statement. Weak personal statement. Cardiff A100 () B’s in English Language and Math’s. AA in dual science or AAB in separate sciences (any order).AAA including two sciences from chemistry, biology, math’s and physics. No cutoff is allocated to the UKCAT scores, and they are only used post interview.A GCSE score of out of 27 is given to candidates based on their 9 best GCSE subjects. This must include English language, Math’s, biology, chemistry and physics or dual award science. A* = 3, A = 2 and B = 1 point. For 2015 entry a score of 26/27 was required to gain an interview.High number of A* grades at GCSE to include core subjects. Below 6A* at GCSE (although recent cut offs have been as high as 8A* grades)Dundee A100 () Biology, mathematics and English are required to be at least grade B. GCSE performance is taken into account for selection.AAA to include chemistry and another science.GS is not accepted.There is no UKCAT cut off.Applicants are ranked based on academic achievement and UKCAT score. The top 500 are then invited to an interview.Due to competition the minimum requirements at GCSE and A2/AS are unlikely to secure an interview without a very high UKCAT score. If only one of biology/chemistry is offered at Alevel then the other (or dual science) should be offered at GCSE grade A.AAA to include one of chemistry or biology. GS and CT not included. There is a UKCAT cut off.Once the minimum academic criteria is met then academic achievement is not considered any further. A UKCAT threshold is then set (changes every year depending on applicants) and the UKCAT scores above the cut off are invited to interview.Strong UKCAT. Possibly of you have weaker academics paired with a strong UKCAT.Poor UKCAT.East Anglia A100 () Minimum of 6 GCSE passes at grade A or above to include English, math’s and two science subjects. The best 8 GCSEs are used to include up to 1 math’s, 2 English and up to three sciences. Repeat GCSEs are accepted. AAA to include biology, and either physics or chemistry. The practical element must be passed in each science subject. Resits are considered (see website for more details)No cut off value is used. It is unlikely a score of 1800 will be invited to interview. After a primary screening a secondary academic screening is undertaken. Candidates have their academic qualifications (GCSE grades and predicted A2 grades) combined with their UKCAT score where they are then ranked alongside other applicants and the top scores will be invited to interview. Good GCSE profile (above grade A) with a good UKCAT.UKCAT below 3rd decile and weak GCSE grades. Edinburgh A100 () B or above in science (either BBB in separate or BB in additional)AAA to include chemistry and one of biology, math’s of physics. Biology must be taken to AS If not taken at A2. Only 1 of math’s and further math’s will be considered, and GS is not considered. UKCAT total score is assessed and applicants are given a rank before being split into octiles. There is no cut off score.Edinburgh do not normally interview school leavers. Assessment before an offer.Applicants are scored by 2 admissions officers to give a total of 40 points from:Academic grades (max 20 points) 50%Non-academic criteria (max 6 points) 15%UKCAT score rank (max 8 points) 20%SJT band (max 6 points) 15%The highest scoring applicants are offered places. It has been known that applicants can only drop a few points out of the 40 to be given an offer, hence this is a very competitive scoring system.Very strong academic with 7A*’s+ at GCSE and A*AAa at A2 predicted or achieved. Band 1 or 2 SJT with UKCAT over 700 ideally. Any B grades at GCSE or AS/Alevel, low SJT band and Low average UKCAT score.Exeter A100 () Minimum of grade Cs in maths, English and science. Total of 7 GCSEs at grades A*-C.A*AA-AAA in Biology and Chemistry as well as 1 further subject. GS is not accepted. Exeter set a UKCAT cut off each year.Providing they meet the academic entry requirements and have a good personal statement, applicants who have a UKCAT score over the cut off will be invited to interview. Strong UKCAT score but weaker GCSE and AS achievement.Weak UKCAT.Glasgow A100 () GCSE pass grade of B is required in English.AAA to include Chemistry and one of Maths, Physics or Biology. GS and CT are not accepted. If biology is not taken to A2 it must be taken at AS and a grade A is required. Maths and further maths are not considered as separate subjects. The top UKCAT scores out of all of the applicants for that year an invited to interview.After applicants have passed the initial academic screening then the highest UKCAT scores (highest 800) are invited to interview. In 2015 the lowest UKCAT score considered was 2630 (average of 657.5), but this varies each year.Strong UKCAT score but weaker academics. Weak UKCAT score.Hull York A100 () 8 GCSE grades at A*-C. English Language and Maths at grade B or above.AAA to include biology and chemistry plus 1 further subject. This excludes CT and GS, and maths and further maths are not considered separately. A band 1,2 or 3 must be achieved in the SJT portion of the UKCAT. Band 4 will not be considered any further. If minimum requirements are met the best 8 achieved GCSEs are given a score, this is then combined with a UKCAT score (which is determined after the UCAS deadline each year). The highest scoring candidates are invited to interview. At interview the SJT forms an invisible MMI station meaning your Band will be factored into your interview score.Good mix of strong academics and good UKCAT.A mix of very poor academics and very poor UKCAT. Keele A100 () 5 GCSE grade As are required as a minimum. Grade B minimum must be achieved in maths, English and sciences. A*AA to include chemistry or biology plus a second science and a third academic subject. GS and CT are not accepted and only 1 of maths and further maths will be accepted. A pass must be gained in the practical element of science courses. If AAAa has been achieved this could be taken in place of A*AA.Total scores in the bottom 20% nationally and SJT band 4 candidates are excluded. Applications once having met the minimum entry requirements and the UKCAT cut off score (SJT band 3 or above or score in the top 80% nationally) are assessed using the remainder of the UCAS application as well as the role and responsibilities form for interview shortlisting. Lots of voluntary work hours which can be proved. Lack of voluntary work.Kings college London A100 () GCSE grade B in English language and maths. AAA to include biology and chemistry plus a further academic subject. A grade B in a further AS level is also required. If only 1 of biology and chemistry are taken to A2 an AS grade of an A is required. There is no UKCAT threshold score.UKCAT score is balanced against academic achievement to date, hence a strong UKCAT can make up for slightly below average academic achievement upon application. The personal statement and reference are also considered. Strong UKCAT and academics combo.Weak UKCAT and academics combo.Leicester A100 () Grade C achieved in English language, maths and 2 science (either dual award science of separate to include chemistry).AAA to include chemistry and biology plus a third academic subject. GS and CT are not accepted, and only one of maths and further maths are considered. There is no UKCAT cut off score. Band 4 SJT is heavily scrutinized. If the minimum requirements are met then candidates are scored using a scoring system and the highest scorers are invited to interview. UKCAT is scored out of 24 (2400 = 24, 2350 = 23.5, 2300 = 23 and so on). This score is combined with an academic score which is also out of 24. The best 8 GCSEs to include core subjects (English language, maths, science and the best remaining subjects) is scored where A* = 3 points, an A = 2 and so on. If candidate have achieved A2 levels the best 6 GCSEs are scored out of 12 and the 3 A2 levels are scored out of 12.This combines to give a score of 48, for which the highest scoring individuals would be invited to interview.Good UKCAT and academics combined.Weak UKCAT and academics combined.Liverpool A100 () GCSEs in 9 separate subject areas (by the end of year 11) to score at least 15 or more (A/A* = 2 and B = 1) to include science, English language and math’s. All must also be at grade B. 2 short courses can be offered in place of a full GCSE. AAAb to include chemistry and biology. UKCAT is requiredA score of 15 or above (or 12 or above if AAA has already been achieved at A2) is required (A*/A = 2 and A = 1) and must include science, maths and English language plus the remaining highest GCSE grades to total 9. Meeting or exceeding this score of 15 does not mean you automatically move onto the next stage in the admissions process. The UKCAT score is combined with the academic score and the most competitive applicants move onto the second stage. For 2016 an average of 625 or greater was deemed competitive. The most competitive candidates have their personal statement and reference looked at in reference to the non-academic criteria, and the most competitive candidates after this are invited to interview. Strong GCSE grades which may not be all A*s but mostly if not all A grades. Above average UKCAT, strong extra-curricular and work experience. A lot of Bs at GCSE. Below average UKCAT. Manchester A106 () Seven subjects required at grade C or above, and at least 5 of those must be A or A* grade to apply. Applying with achieved A2 grades lowers this requirement (see website).AAA in chemistry plus one of biology, human biology, physics, maths or further maths, plus on rigorous subject, not CT or GS. UKCAT is used by but the SJT is not. A UKCAT cut off threshold is used. Applicants meeting the minimum academic requirements will be required to surpass the UKCAT threshold for the year of entry (for 2016 entry this average was 665, but it does change depending on the admissions cycle). After this cut off has been surpassed the non-academic requirements form submitted to the university is looked at and the best candidates are then selected for interview. Very good UKCAT, good non-academic attributes. Weaker UKCAT, poor non-academic attributes. Newcastle A100 () C in math’s and English. If only one of biology/chemistry is offered at Alevel then the other (or dual science) should be offered at GCSE grade A.AAA to include one of chemistry or biology. GS and CT not included.There is a UKCAT cut off.Once the minimum academic criteria is met then academic achievement is not considered any further. AAA in chemistry and biology (plus a pass in the practical element) and one further subject excluding GS and CT. If a 4th AS is taken it is required to be of grade A or B. UKCAT is used, section scores are counted separately but no cut off is used. This is correct as for the 2016/17 admissions cycle, a more up to date version may appear.Academic ability: the highest 8 GCSEs including science, math’s and English language plus the remaining best subjects to make 8 (first GCSE sit only – no resits) are scored where 2 points = A* and 1 point = A. UKCAT: the 3 subtests are scored as follows: 801-900 = 9 points, 701-800 = 8 points, 601-700 = 7 points and so on. The SJT is scored where band 1 = 3, band 2 = 2 and so on and band 4 will not be considered any further. The top 50% from the UKCAT and academic assessment will have their UKCAT read and scored for selection for interview, applicants with the highest overall score are invited to interview. Strong GCSE grades, above average UKCAT section scores and good personal statement and reference. Very low score in UKCAT subsections, Bs at GCSE grade. Plymouth A100 () 7 GCSE passes at grade A*-C which must include English language, maths and either single and additional science or GCSE biology and chemistry.A*AA-AAA at A2 to include chemistry and either biology or physics. Biology if not offered at A2 must be offered at AS at grade C. Consideration is given to resit applicants providing they achieved AAB in the first attempt. A minimum standard is required to be met in each of the subsections, plus an overall target score must be met. You must meet the minimum academic requirements to have your UKCAT score assessed by subsection and overall score. The scoring system used for the UKCAT changes each year, but here below is an example of the 2016 entry UKCAT threshold scores which must be met:VR: 530QR: 650AR: 610Overall: 652.5Applicants who meet these thresholds are likely to be invited to interview. Good UKCAT scores in each subsection.Weak subsection UKCAT scores and lower UKCAT average score. Queens Belfast A100 () Minimum of GCSE maths grade C. The best 9 GCSE subjects are scored with 4 points for an A*, 3 for an A.AAA at A2 to include chemistry plus one of human biology/biology, maths or physics plus a further subject. An A at AS level must be achieved in the 4th subject, if biology is not taken to A2 level it must be of grade B standard as a 5th AS subject. Grade A in the EPQ or WELSH BAC or grade B in a 4th A2 level will be taken in lieu of the 4th AS. The UKCAT score is used in conjunction with the GCSE score to form the interview rank. The best 9 GCSE grades are scored with an A* being 4 points, an A being 3 points and so on. The UKCAT score is then added to this with 2200+ = 6 points, 2040-2190= 5 points, 1880-2030 = 4 points, 1720-1870 = 3 points, 1560-1710 = 2 points, 1400-1550 = 1 point. For 2016 entry the threshold to be shortlisted for interview was 37 points or 36 points with ABBB at AS. Candidates with achieved A2 grades meeting the requirements are awarded 36 points for academics plus the UKCAT score. The highest scoring candidates above the cut off score are invited to interview. Strong GCSE grades with a decent UKCAT score. Weak GCSE grades/ low number of A* grades. Sheffield A100 () C or above in English, maths and the sciences. A minimum of 6 A grades is required for application. AAA to include chemistry and another science subject (biology, physics, math’s or psychology).ABBB at AS level is required for application. 1850 UKCAT score or above is considered. SJT is considered as a station at the MMI interviews. Candidates who meet the UKCAT cut off and the academic entry requirements will have their personal statements assessed and the best candidates are invited to interview. Strong personal statement.Weak personal statement.Southampton A100 () Minimum of 7 GCSEs at grade B to include, math’s, English language and science. AAA to include chemistry and biology. GS and CT are not accepted. Applicants are ranked by their UKCAT score and a certain number are invited to interview. This score varies each year. Once academic criteria is met candidates are ranked via their UKCAT score and the best UKCAT scores are invited to interview. Very high UKCAT.Low UKCAT. St Andrews A100 () It is expected Alevel applicants will offer a minimum of 8 A grades or 6A* grades at GCSEAAA to include chemistry and 1 other of biology, maths or physics. If biology, maths or English are not offered at Alevel they must be passed at GCSE grade B or better, GCSE dual award science is not accepted in place of GCSE biology. The UKCAT score is ranked. The SJT is incorporated into the interview score. Candidates with a strong academic record, positive reference and relevant medically related work experience will then be ranked based on their UKCAT score, the top 400 are invited to interview. For 2016 entry the average score of those made an offer was 2080 (this is equivalent for the new total UKCAT score). High UKCAT and strong academics. Low UKCAT and weak academics.St Georges London A100 () 416 points where A8 = 58, A = 52, B = 46 and C = 40 from the top 8 GCSEs to include english language (must be a B), maths and science. AAA to include chemistry and biology. GS and KS is not accepted. 500 or above in each subsection. The overall cut off for the UKCAT is considered after the UCAS deadline. The SJT band is not used. Providing you meet the academic and UKCAT cut off scores you will be invited to interview. At Interview all non-academic criteria will be assessed. Past UKCAT cut offs are: 2016 (650), 2015 (637.5), but the cut off changes each year dependent on the quality of the applicants UKCAT scores. GS and CT are excluded.BMAT is scored out of 28 (9 marks for section 1, 9 for section 2 and 5 marks for each element of section 3).All applicants meeting the minimum entry requirements are ranked according to their BMAT score out of 28 and BSMS work down the rankings to fill interview slots. For 2015 entry applicants who scored 15.1 or above were invited to interview, but this will change each year. Good BMAT, weaker GCSEs.Poor BMAT. Cambridge A100 () Grade C or above in GCSE science and math’s. A*A*A, each college has its own individual requirments. You must have A level passes in chemistry and two of biology, physics and math’s. The BMAT is required. Cambridge assess all areas of the application pre-interview and like to see a strong academic alevel background (good examination marks), strong predicted grades and a good BMAT score. Good BMAT, high %UMS at AS. Low predicted grades or %UMS at AS. Poor BMAT. Imperial A100 () None.AAA-A*AA in chemistry, biology and a third non-vocational subject. BMAT cut off score calculated each year.If you meet the minimum academic entry requirements then your BMAT score must exceed the cut off to be invited to interview. For 2016 entry the cut offs were: 4.5 in section 1 and 2 and 2.5B in section 3. Very strong BMAT. Weak or average BMAT. Lancaster A100 () At least 15 points scored where A*/A = 2 and B = 1 in the best 9 GCSEs to include biology, chemistry, physics, English language and maths. All other subjects must be at least grade c or above. AAAb-AAA/A*AA at A2 to include biology and chemistry. The AS can be substituted for the EPQ at grade B. Applicants who sat their alevels over 3 years will be considered. BMAT score used in ranking.Applicants who meet the academic requirements are ranked by BMAT score, the best BMAT scores have their personal statement assessed and the best candidates move onto interview.Good BMAT. EPQ or 4th Alevel.Weak BMAT. Leeds A100 () At least 6 grade Bs to include maths, English and science. (40% of applicants achieved 9A* at GCSE and AAA at AS during last years cycle).AS is considered if it is better than GCSE. AAA to include chemistry. A score is allocated to the BMAT score. No cutoff is used. Academic criteria and the BMAT are scored pre-interview, the best 1000 scores move onto stage 2 where the personal statement and reference is assessed to decide who to invite to interview. Good all around performance, Weak all around performance. Oxford A100 () No formal requirements as of the website, but oxford score the number and % of A* grades at GCSE to select candidates for interview. A*AA to include chemistry and one of biology, maths or physics. BMAT is used. The admissions process relies heavily on the BMAT score and GCSE performance. A weaker GCSE performance can be compensated to a certain extent by a very good BMAT score.On average applicants have 80% of GCSEs at grade A*, and 8.5 GCSE grade A* grades. All A* grades at GCSE. Good BMAT. Poor GCSE grades. Poor BMAT. UCL A100 () Grade B in both English language and maths. All UK applicants should offer a modern foreign language at GCSE grade C. A*AA to include chemistry and biology (the A* must be in one of those 2). BMAT score used. The following factors are taken into account: Predicted and actual grades. Evidence of independent learning skills (EPQ, OU course, own reading).Previous experience.Motivation to medicine.Teamwork, leadership and communication skills.Referees assessment. BMAT scores.
